Correctional officer returns to position

PEKIN - Tazewell County Sheriff Robert Huston said Thursday that in light of criminal charges being dismissed against a county correctional officer in April for a 2007 arrest involving domestic battery, the officer will keep his job. Tazewell County Courthouse records state that Jeffrey M. Stocke, 37, of Pekin, was suspended without pay in October 2007 after Pekin police arrested Stocke for grabbing his 12-year-old step-son by the arm and swinging him into a kitchen cabinet. After throwing the boy to the floor, Stocke twisted his arm behind his back, straddled him and raised his fist as though to punch the boy before the child's mother stopped the attack. Court records state that earlier this year Stocke agreed to enter into an anger management program - SAVE - and that upon completion of the program prosecutors would drop charges against the veteran correctional officer. As of April, Stocke had completed the program and returned to work shortly after his final April 8 court date. "He (Stocke) entered into an agreement and completed the program (SAVE). The case had not gone to the merit commission at that time," said Huston...
