[Excerpts] A North Augusta Department of Public Safety sergeant was jailed Tuesday on allegations he pinched an adolescent girl in his legal custody so hard he left bruises and finger nail marks on her, according to officials. Travis W. Redd Sr., 38, of Ashley Circle in North Augusta, is charged with unlawful neglect by a legal custodian... He reportedly reached over and pinched the girl on her chest, leaving finger nail marks and bruises, according to the incident report. The social worker said she observed and photographed the marks. During the investigation, deputies said they "did not believe the alleged assault was at all sexual in nature," said Lt. Michael Frank, a spokesperson for the agency. The investigator called in to assist with the case stated in the arrest warrant that the suspect threatened to kill the adolescent girl during the argument. The victim also told the social worker that Redd got into an argument later that evening with his wife, a 39-year-old woman living at the Ashley Circle road home. She said the fight escalated and became physical, according to the incident report. He is accused of striking the woman in the face, bruising the left side of her face and bursting her eardrum. Redd has not been charged in connection with the second set of allegations. The social worker told investigators she could not confirm the alleged assault on the wife or the injuries, adding that she spoke with the woman who denied she had been hit, according to the police reports...
