A Maysville city group has laid down the law with a decision to cut ties with its police chief who is facing his own legal fire. No specific reasons were given as members of the Maysville Board of Trustees voted this week to terminate the services of Police Chief Robert Peterson. Peterson was thrust into the spotlight last month when he was formally accused of slapping his girlfriend during a domestic altercation at their home in Purcell... “The board decided to terminate his employment for the good of the service,” Mayor Edward Pharaoh said... Peterson’s problems began on July 21 when a misdemeanor charge of domestic abuse was filed against him in McClain County District Court. He was formally accused of slapping Cindy Herrera during an argument in the early morning hours of July 15 outside of their apartment in Purcell. During the incident two other Maysville officers, one of whom also lives in the apartment complex, claimed to witness Peterson slap the woman’s face. After news broke of the alleged incident Peterson publicly denied it happened. The incident is strangely similar to an altercation two years ago between Peterson and Herrera when they lived in Pauls Valley. Both were arrested after they had a domestic confrontation during a gathering in September 2007 to celebrate Peterson’s graduation from the state’s law enforcement training academy. The domestic abuse charge filed against Peterson was later dismissed, while he also pleaded guilty to assaulting a third individual by striking that person in the face. [Full article here]

Maysville’s police chief remains on the job even after he was formally accused Tuesday of slapping his girlfriend during a recent incident at their home in Purcell. For now Peterson is free after he surrendered to authorities Tuesday and posted a $3,000 bond. His arraignment on the filed charge is scheduled for Friday in a Purcell courtroom... The woman told Purcell police he was intoxicated during an argument that resulted in her being slapped as she sat in a chair outside their apartment. Officers reported they didn’t observe any signs of injury on Herrera. In a strange twist two other Maysville officers, one who also lives in the apartment complex, claimed to witness Peterson slap the woman’s face... [Full article here]

Let's hope and pray for women everywhere! Another "Peterson" using DV as a weapon.
ReplyDeleteI witnessed the first cover up. This man has abused his power from day one. and still to this day May 30, 2010 he is still causing unbelievable pain to his victims.
ReplyDeleteThis is my son and these are lies. Why is it that our society just cannot believe that women can be as violent or more violent than men. He has proof that she was the abuser, for 4 years. But no one will listen to what he has. He stayed to protect the children. This person who witnessed the so called cover up....what cover up???? his life and career have been ruined and his face plastered all over the news. Is this what you call a cover up? I call it a set up. She never had a mark on her, she has an extensive record of mental illness and abuse in 3 different states. She put one over he boyfriends in the hospital and she laughed about it. But it is always the men who are blame!. Wake up America.... women are violent too. This comment will probably also be deleted as the ones in the past but ...
ReplyDeleteEven after the victim is dead, most mothers of the killer defend them, explain their behavior, and blame the dead victim.
ReplyDeleteThere are two POLICE OFFICER WITNESSES to the slapping incident.
ReplyDeleteHe is innocent fuck all you guys. And that bitch needed to get hit for the shit she did.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU FOR SHARING AND EXPOSING HOW IGNORANT YOU ARE. IF YOU ARE NOT HIM, YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY GENETICALLY CONNECTED.
ReplyDeleteThis is a good example of people thinking they are supporting someone by commenting but they actually make things worse for the person they are trying to stand up for.
