He broke his own door, which is not a criminal act. People, as silly as it may seem, are allowed to damage their own property. Once the court learned that was the case, the charges were dropped.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11646417.post-75536455189923385472008-10-05T18:00:00.000-07:002008-10-05T18:00:00.000-07:00I ran a search on the news website for the article...I ran a search on the news website for the article about his resignation but it didn't come up in the search
http://www.myrecordjournal.com/site/news.cfm?brd=2755&pag=628&dept_id=592754&search=1&ls=0&sortby=1&TITLE=&tp=2&FULL=police+todd+wilcox&fp=1&AUTHOR=&ap=2&DateRange=2008&x=12&y=9

An earlier article did but not that one. The suspension follows an investigation of a complaint filed by Officer Christian Evans after the May 13 incident.

Evans accused Wilcox of punching him in the parking lot behind the police station. The assault occurred after Wilcox, who Evans said appeared to be intoxicated, refused a ride home and would not surrender his car keys.

"It's obviously embarrassing to professional police officers in this agency," Police Chief Douglas Dortenzio said. "This latest incident is unfortunate at best."

Dispatcher Timothy McMahon was suspended without pay for one day for withholding information in a written report in conjunction with the incident, police said.

Sgt. William Wilson, the road supervisor on duty the night of the incident, also faces disciplinary action.

Chief Dortenzio said the punishment was fair but lenient.

"Most places where that occurred, you become a former employee quickly," Dortenzio said.

http://www.wtnh.com/global/story.asp?s=117472&ClientType=PrintableBehind The Blue Wallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04429113203939514642noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11646417.post-40872082374515626562008-10-05T17:45:00.000-07:002008-10-05T17:45:00.000-07:00WHY were the charges dropped? So he could "resign" ...WHY were the charges dropped?

So he could "resign" before there was a "finding" on the internal investigation, have a clean criminal record, and come back later and get on the force - or cop-hop to a new police job?

Happens all the time. Todd Wilcox were dropped by a prosecutor last month, but Wilcox resigned from the force before that.

Meriden police charged Wilcox with disorderly conduct and criminal mischief March 13. The next day, he was suspended from the Wallingford Police Department with pay, pending an internal investigation.

The prosecutor at Meriden Superior Court agreed to drop both charges April 23, according to the court clerk's office.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11646417.post-58098437302747639412008-06-09T14:37:00.000-07:002008-06-09T14:37:00.000-07:00Sgt. I was the one that went back in the burning tent to get that case of grenades. Then i went to the Philipines. I went into a tiny room and I saw your arm up in a cast. I hope you are still alive. I am trying to find out who the machine gunner was next to me on top of the Hill that night. I know so much of what happened that night.
Thank you,
Gary Joe GuthridgeAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
