[FL] Waiting on the investigation results for Cathy Moore's suicide.

 Cathy Moore
Daytona Beach Police Officer Chris(topher) Reeder says his girlfriend Cathryn Moore shot herself with his weapon while he was in the shower. Immediately, before there was an investigation, police were already saying it looks to be what Officer Reeder said it was.

Hmm.

There was only one article that I found on her death, and it has no comments, no votes. That's dissettling too.

She has a friend who is adamantly posting that Cathy had a disease (of depression) and this friend implies that settles it. If I had depression though I wouldn't want people to write me off if I was found shot to death. I don't follow the certainty. There is a disproportionate representation on this blog of the same thing over and over and over.

The one article that I'm aware of doesn't mention an outside agency taking the case so unless something new has happened, Officer Reeder's friends and collegues are conducting the investigation.

  1. OFFICER FACES CRIMINAL PROBE:
    Investigation into girlfriend's suicide ongoing

[Excerpts] It's been five months since 31-year-old Cathryn Moore died in the apartment of her boyfriend Daytona Beach policeman Chris Reeder. At the time, police officials said Moore committed suicide with Reeder's service weapon while the 38-year-old officer showered for work that February morning. Earlier this week, after repeated questions by The Daytona Beach News-Journal regarding the case, police revealed that Reeder has been under criminal investigation. That was news to Moore's family in Delaware, who said on Thursday that they have not heard anything about the case since their daughter died Feb. 6... "No one has called us about anything or told us anything about a criminal investigation"...While autopsy results have not been released on Moore, who lived in Port Orange, police said preliminary findings show she shot herself...At the time, at least 10 officers responded to the apartment, a police report states. That same report shows that Reeder told investigators Moore was upset with him that morning, but he said he didn't know why.

  3. COP GIVEN WARNING IN GIRLFRIEND'S SUICIDE

[Excerpts] A policeman whose girlfriend killed herself with his service weapon was issued a written warning for leaving his gun unsecured, an internal affairs report shows... The case took months to investigate because there were some obstacles along the way. They included accusations the Police Department's death investigation was not thorough. Another was Moore's ex-boyfriend Harry Oakley --a Daytona Beach cop -- became involved in the investigation somehow and was warned for it by the police chief, records show. Regardless, the 39-year-old Reeder has been cleared of any criminal wrongdoing in the case, police said... It's unknown from police reports how long Moore and Reeder were dating. But according to his statements to investigators, Moore was emotionally unstable and threatened suicide any time things went awry in the relationship. Moore's threats of suicide had gotten so bad Reeder threatened to have her hospitalized under the state's Baker Act, he told police. The Baker Act allows a person be taken into protective custody and placed under observation for at least 72 hours when they are a danger to themselves or others...

Currently involved in multiple domestic violence incidents in Port Orange.

  8. There is not one single 'domestic violence incident' that he is involved in. That is a false claim. Look it up. Know your facts before your libelous posts.

  9. Be very careful of your accusations 'keyboard commando' that remains 'anonymous'. At least have the sack to post your name on your libelous comments. Trolls like you belong in that cold dark basement of your uncles house when mommy and daddy didn't want you anymore. Air your concerns in person since you clearly know where to locate him.

    1. I was a former victim of Officer Christopher Reeder who used excessive force and tasered me unlawfully 3 times and almost killed me in the street while I was on Spring Break in 2004 my junior year in college for simply walking by a car that was pulled over (by Officer Reeder) and giving a high-five to the front seat passenger of the car that was pulled over. He lied to other officers who arrived on the scene and made up a story that I "kicked him in the stomach", and so they arrested me and charged me with a felony battery on an officer. A miracle from God delivered me six eye witnesses that countered his claim and the state prosecuting attorney of Florida dropped the charge from a Felony-Battery on an Officer to a Misdemeanor-Obstruction of Justice. This was still an over charge but at least I did not have the felony on my record. I attempted to file an Internal Affairs Investigation against Officer Reeder with the Volusia County Police Department and their short and thoughtless investigation found no wrongdoing of any kind on his part, even after 6 witnesses had sworn affidavits and written testimony describing his excessive force and police abuse. After nothing was resolved with internal affairs investigation my friends and family began to investigate Christopher Reeder and discovered that the very day of the night that he tasered me, there was an article that printed in the Daytona Beach News Journal that detailed an incident where Officer Reeder and 6 other officers in Volusia County raided a man's trailer who had violated his probation and accidentally tasered the man's eight year old daughter. This guy has a track record of being a psycho-path and Volusia County is liable for giving him a badge and continuing to support his criminal behavior.

I just googled his name and found out about this incident with his girlfriend's alleged suicide and I am deeply troubled by what looks like another dirty cover up in Volusia County and that this time someone lost their life.

Just wanted to see if there was ever any update on this case at all?

      Thank you!

  11. To the person who just sent me a comment detailing your interaction with Reeder, is it okay for me to publish it herehpublicly? I know you put it in the comments but I just want to double-check.

It must have been chilling and further affirming for you to find out this additional information.

  12. Yes that would be just fine. Thanks for asking and thank you for providing an outlet for corruption to be exposed even if justice isn't served. My family and I have made peace with the incident that happened to me but it took a very long time and still brings back horrible trauma. I can only imagine the pain that others have suffered in their interactions with this particular officer and the Volusia County Police Department of Daytona Beach, FL. Warning to all parents with kids in college who want to go to Daytona Beach for Spring Break...A lawyer down there told me that the Police Officers target college kids from out of town while they are on Spring Break. Don't send your kids to Daytona Beach, FL.
