[GA] FCSO fired Deputy McCullagh quickly after DV incident.

Example of a professional response to evident officer involved domestic violence from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia.
On November 29th Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office supervisors responded to the home of FCSO Deputy First Class Tom McCullagh after a 911 domestic violence call was received from a family member. After assessing the situation responders immediately called in the Forsyth County Major Crimes Unit Detectives and Office of Professional Standards. Probable cause was determined and McCullagh was arrested, taken to jail, and charged with BATTERY FAMILY VIOLENCE in accordance with Georgia's Family Violence Laws. Mccullagh was put on leave while an internal investigation was conducted, and on December 10th he was fired - because of "multiple violations of policies and procedures”.
“There are not any more serious allegations than those dealing with domestic violence. We had a team of detectives and supervisors working on this to make sure, first of all, the victim was OK, and to protect the integrity of our agency.”
~ Cpl. Doug Rainwater, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office spokesman

[MI] Unnamed deputy's married ex girlfriend found guilty of fake rape charge against him

CHARLOTTE WOMAN PLEADS GUILTY TO LYING ABOUT BEING RAPED BY SHERIFF'S DEPUTY
Dec. 11, 2019
[Excerpts] A Charlotte woman pleaded guilty Wednesday to lying to police about being raped by a sheriff's deputy in 2017. Kellie Bartlett initially faced 16 charges related to her clerk job at the Eaton County Sheriff's Office and her report to Michigan State Police that a sheriff's deputy raped her...  A further investigation determined Bartlett was a "willing and consenting partner in this act"... They made that determination, in part, because of texts she exchanged with her husband the morning after... The texts were "sexual in nature and mocked the sexual encounter she had with the deputy"... Bartlett worked at the sheriff's office from 2008 through December 2017, when she was fired. She was in a relationship with the deputy from late 2015 through spring 2017... The identity theft charge is for faking a note from a physician in order to receive compensation for time off from the Eaton County Sheriff's Office... [Kellie's husband] Shane Bartlett, who at the time was the chief of police in Potterville, was charged with misconduct in office, lying to a police officer and false report of a felony. His charges are connected to his wife's charge of filing a false rape report. He is set for a preliminary hearing Jan. 2 to determine if there is enough evidence for him to stand trial. Nakfoor Pratt is also prosecuting that case. Kellie Bartlett will have a sentencing hearing Jan. 30. [Full article here]

NEWS EXCERPT: ...Nearly half a year later, questions about what led to the death of Jasmin Nicole "Nikki" Ceely, 30, are still unanswered. MCCOMB OFFICER'S WIFE DEAD IN REPORTED 'OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING'
June 11, 2017, Updated June 12, 2017
[Excerpts] A Pike County woman is dead of a Friday night shotgun blast, but details surrounding her death remain sketchy. Pike County Sheriff’s Department chief investigator Chris Bell reportedly told the Enterprise-Journal Saturday that there had been "an officer-involved shooting" in which the deceased woman’s husband was a McComb police officer. Pike County Sheriff Kenny Cotton identified the victim as Jasmine Ceely. District Attorney Dee Bates confirmed that the officer is Frank Ceely... Pike County Coroner Percy Pittman would not comment on the nature of the gunshot wound pending the outcome of an autopsy. He said he expects results from the crime lab by late Monday. So far nobody has clarified on the record what the situation was, or if Frank Ceely is alleged to be the shooter. Officials have confirmed that the shotgun was his department-issued shotgun... Frank Ceely has not been charged... Officer-involved shootings are routinely referred to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation...

WHO SHOT A MCCOMB POLICE OFFICER'S WIFE TO DEATH?
June 15, 2017, Updated June 16, 2017
[Excerpts] The investigation is still ongoing into the death of a McComb police officer's wife. Jasmin "Nikki" Ceely was shot to death Friday night... Nikki Ceely was shot with [her McComb police officer husband] Frank Ceely's department-issue shotgun... The Pike County Sheriff's Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation are handling the probe, McComb Police Chief Scott McKenzie said Thursday... Pike County Chief Deputy Chris Bell called it an "officer-involved shooting" early in the case... MBI spokesman Warren Strain said he's not sure "why that (officer involved) terminology was used," as authorities have not released a determination based on the autopsy results. He said lab and autopsy results will be used to determine "whether or not it's self-inflicted... We're waiting on the autopsy and interview process, just like any investigation"... McKenzie said he's trying to give the investigating agencies their space as they continue to look into the death... "We're just trying not to interfere"... But McKenzie called the situation "tragic," and said the mission of the authorities is to find the truth, and that they can't afford to react to incomplete details or rumors...

CEELYS DEATH UNSOLVED. MS OFFICER WIFE ALLEGED SUICIDE JASMIN CEELY -- Investigators unable to determine if shooting was suicide or homicide
20 Jul 2017
[Excerpts] Investigators have not been able to determine if the death of a McComb police officer's wife was a suicide or homicide, authorities familiar with the probe said Wednesday. Pike County Coroner Percy Pittman said Wednesday afternoon that officials with the state medical examiner's office in Jackson could not verify who fatally shot Jasmin N. Ceely... Ceely died June 9, at her home on Brandi Lane in Summit... Despite the lack of conclusive findings from the medical examiner's office, Bates said the case could still go before a Pike County grand jury. "I think it has to," he said. "Let the jury hear all the facts and make a decision." Bates said officials from his office, along with authorities from the Pike County Sheriff's Department and the MBI, will meet in Jackson to discuss how to proceed with the case...

[MO] 1903 alleged fiery suicide of unnamed "crazed" officer Boyd's wife in "his home"

BURNED HERSELF TO A CRISP

Horrible Suicide of a Demented Woman While Her Husband Was Asleep in Another Room.
St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Missouri
18 Jan 1903, Sun, Page 39

Mrs. W. D. Boyd, wife of Police Officer Boyd of this city, was found dead in her husband's home, her body burned to a crisp. Indications point to a suicide in a most horrible manner.

An hour before the body was found Mrs. Boyd sent her little 10-year-old girl to the home of neighbors, telllng the servant who accompanied the child that if anything should happen to her (Mrs. Boyd) during the night to see that her child was given to her relative and properly reared. A light, as if the house was on fire, attracted the attention of neighbors to the Boyd home. Not a sound was heard to come from the burning woman. Cries failing to arouse the inmates, the house was entered and the lady's body was found sitting upright in a chair of the dining room, with every particle of clothing consumed by the fames and her body burned to a charred mass. In another room Officer Boyd, the husband, was found on a bed asleep. Not a sound had warned him of the awful fate of Mrs. Boyd.

Mrs. Boyd has been in ill-health for the past year, and at times was crazed with suffering. It is thought she ended her life in one of these fits of madness.
