[FL] Sandra Bee Wilson's complaints disappeared

Florida: Sandra Bee Wilson
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
There are no web memorials to Sandra Bee Wilson.
I could not even locate an obituary.
She was here.
Now she's not.

From July news in 2003: A Miami-Dade County police officer fatally shot his girlfriend and then himself, police said. North Miami Beach officers responded about 2:25 p.m. Sunday to a report of shots fired at the home of Sandra Bee Wilson, 42. They found Officer Leon Storr, 38, a 16-year veteran, dead. Wilson died at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Wilson had worked as a COUNTY POLICE RECORDS CLERK for 15 years... FAMILY MEMBERS TOLD WFOR-CBS 4 ON SUNDAY THAT WILSON HAD COMPLAINED TO HER SUPERVISORS THAT STORR WAS STALKING HER, ALTHOUGH THERE WAS NO SUCH PAPERWORK IN STORR'S FILE TO SUPPORT THE CLAIM...."A REVIEW OF ALL THE DOCUMENTS INDICATES NO TYPE OF COMPLAINTS AGAINST HIM FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE," SAID POLICE SPOKESMAN JUAN DELCASTILLO. "WE'VE TALKED TO CO-WORKERS, WHO INDICATED THE SAME. "IN FACT, THERE ARE STILL PHOTOGRAPHS OF HIM ON HER DESK."...

In my line of work, the saying goes: "If it's not documented, it never happened." But that's not true.

UPDATE:
I thought I'd come back and say that when I point out that police say that there is no paperwork - that I don't believe them, unless they destroyed it or never took it seriously enough - because Leon was an officer - to write it down. Disappearing complaints and paperwork is common in officer-involved cases.

A frightened Sandra Wilson, who works with police officers, dialed 911 in May to report that her irate ex-boyfriend was driving up and down the alley behind her North Miami Beach home.

Wilson also said that Leon Storr, a 16-year veteran of the Miami-Dade Police Department, told her on the phone that she was ''going to have a short life,'' according to a North Miami Beach police report.

By the time police arrived, Storr had left.

Officers suggested that Wilson, a Miami-Dade police records clerk, should seek a restraining order through the courts.

    DEADLY RETURN

On Sunday afternoon Storr, 38, went back to Wilson's small, peach-colored house in the Washington Park neighborhood.

He fatally shot Wilson, 42, outside her home, then killed himself with a 9mm handgun, North Miami Beach police said.

Wilson's personnel file indicated that the motorcycle patrol officer had earned more than 20 commendation letters during his career.

He also had only a few blemishes on his record, the biggest being a three-day suspension in 1997 after showing up legally drunk for a department physical.

Storr voluntarily attended substance-abuse counseling, according to his file.

    A RECORDS CLERK

Wilson, a records clerk since 1988, had lived with Storr, but recently had ended their relationship, police and family members said on Sunday.

They said Storr couldn't accept the fact that Wilson had terminated their relationship.

Family members told WFOR-CBS 4 on Sunday that Wilson had complained to her supervisors that Storr was stalking her, although there was no such paperwork in Storr's file to support the claim.

Family members could not be reached for comment on Monday.

Co-workers at the county police department said they were shocked by the murder-suicide.

"A review of all the documents indicates no type of complaints against him for domestic violence," said police spokesman Juan DelCastillo. "We've talked to co-workers, who indicated the same. In fact, there are still photographs of him on her desk."

Murder Suicide Trigger Man Was Cop, Police Say
    Local10
    POSTED: 7:25 a.m. EDT June 30, 2003
    UPDATED: 11:29 a.m. EDT June 30, 2003

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. - Police say the two people who died in a North Miami Beach murder suicide over the weekend were Miami-Dade County employees and one of them was a police officer.

Investigators say that Officer Leon Storr went to his ex-girlfriend's home in North Miami Beach on Sunday, shot her and then turned the gun on himself.

Sandra Wilson (pictured), 42, worked in the central records bureau and she dated Storr off and on for almost a decade. Friends claim she broke it off with Storr for good several months ago, but he couldn't get over it.

"(He was) constantly bothering her, stalking her, going up and down the alley. He wanted to talk to her, she refused to talk to him. Did he make threats to her? Several times. Do you know what he said? He'll kill her, he has nothing to live for. His mom's dead. His dad's dead. He don't have any kids. He has no reason to live," said Wilson's friend Louella Williams.

Storr died at the scene, while Wilson died at the hospital. Wilson leaves behind a teenage daughter.

  5. My aunt was a hardworking mother and sister hat devoted her life to her family. It’s been devastating the past 8 years not having her in our lives. The police system has proven to be corrupt and full of incontinence fallacies. My aunt trusted in her supervisor and also confided in me that she was taken the necessary steps to ensure Leon was reprimanded for his actions against her such as stalking and obscene and harassed phone call. Justice will prevail in the case and may my aunt rest in peace. I can be reach at: mrsstone_mrsstone@yahoo.com

    1. Amonymous,Did you know that he killed my sister on the anniversary of his mother and father death. Sandra didn't use him. She wouldn't take anything from him.She was afraid of him. This was a man whom she once loved very much, however he had become very hard to live with or love. Perhaps his emotions had something to do with the death of his parents and how they were killed. I don't know, what I do know is that she had a all ready paid for home and car, and a good jod that she had been on for a long time. She didn't need him, and she wouldn't have used him. She never dated after him, and she had been back in her own home for over a year. Perhaps you should get your info. right before you post, being that you knew him so well. Did you know that they found coke in his system? Please email me at grandma_94@hotmail.com I'm one of her sisters, and I'm not telling you what someone told me I'm telling you what I KNOW.

  7. I am sorry that you lost someone close to you, but you really step over the line when you blame a murder victim for making someone kill them. Love who you love, mourn who you miss, and don't play God with the rest.

  13. It is a shame that the Police Dept. covered up complaints in his file, because I made a similar harassment complaint about Leon. I went to the Internal Affairs office in person. My complaint was scribbled on a yellow note pad, but they did confront him about it because he later mentioned it to me.

  14. What amazes me is according to the Court records she reported her concerns about Leon Storr to Chief JD Patterson. If so he had a legal and administrative responsibility to report her claims and complaints against Leon Storr. If not he could have ordered her to go to Internal Affairs and as a Chief he had the power to relieve Storr of his law enforcement duties. That means take away all his guns. Even after this horrible crime and lost of life, he became the Police Director in 2013 and now has just been appointed to the new Chief Public Safety Officer of all of Miami-Dade County by the new Mayor.

The fact is anyone she reported his crimes to is at fault if they did not report it themselves. Many women are very afraid to report domestic violence. But Ms. Wilson did report it but unfortunately she went to his friend the Chief and it was not handled properly. The case is:

    WILSON V Miami-Dade County

What a damn shame this all got covered up.
