December 12, 2005Des Moines Police Officer Eric Ortman had a domestic violence incident with his wife in October, fought the folks who came to intervene and had to be tasered. He was charged with assaults on peace officers and firefighters, interference with official acts and simple domestic assault, but for reasons not revealed, he will no longer be charged on the domestic violence. His attorney said he will be focusing on being clean and sober. Officer Ortman was with the department since 1994.
