A Hamilton County sheriff’s deputy will spend at least five years in prison after he admitted today to shooting at his girlfriend. Randy Koon, 24, of Colerain Township, pleaded as charged today to felonious assault. Hamilton County Common Pleas Court Judge Ralph “Ted” Winkler can send Koon to prison to from 5-11 years when he is sentenced June 16. Koon has been on leave without pay since his August arrest. His guilty plea today makes him a convicted felon and he will be fired by the sheriff’s office...In the incident,
Koon, who had a history of being accused of crimes involving woman,
fought with girlfriend, Jessica Barber, in his Colerain Township home. As she tried to leave his home, he shot at her while she was in her car. “It did shatter the driver’s side window,” Assistant Prosecutor Gwen Bender told the judge today... The judge is interested in a psychological evaluation already done on Koon that indicated he suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder following his military service in Iraq. Koon pleaded guilty as charged and there was no plea deal...
In 2001, Koon was charged with telephone harassment involving a woman. In 2002, he admitted to criminal mischief involving a 20-year-old woman. In 2006, Barber accused Koon of slapping and choking her, resulting in his arrest. He was acquitted in that case when Barber didn’t show up for the trial.

[OH] BREAKING NEWS: "Sheriff's Deputy [Koon] May Be Armed And Suicidal" - Koon fired shots at his girlfriend through her car... The shot entered her driver's side window narrowly missing her... he fired a shot at her from what police believed to be a 40 caliber semi-automatic pistol. Because Koon is armed and has been involved in a shooting incident he should be considered ARMED AND DANGEROUS WITH POSSIBLE SUICIDAL TENDENCIES...
