Wednesday, February 16, 2011
Prosecutors withdrew charges Tuesday against a Pittsburgh police officer and his wife accused of assault.
Detective David Honick and his wife, Jennifer, both 37, refused to testify against each other at a preliminary hearing in Pittsburgh Municipal Court, and there was no clear aggressor in the dispute, said Mike Manko, spokesman for Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr.
Both were charged with simple assault after an altercation at their home on Feb. 6.
David Honick, who joined the force 12 years ago, continues to work out of the warrant office, while Jennifer Honick maintains her position as a clerk in the Hill District station pending an internal investigation of both, police spokeswoman Diane Richard said.
