Officer accused of domestic violence against wife

A Denver Police officer is facing charges after a standoff with police in Colorado Springs Friday night. KKTV, in Colorado Springs, reports the officer is Michael Gonzales. Colorado Springs police say the officer's wife went to a police sub-station with the couple's two children Friday night, and told them Gonzales assaulted her. Police responded to their home, but Gonzales had a gun and initially refused to come out. He later surrendered peacefully and was arrested. Gonzales is facing a charge of third degree assault related to domestic violence. Police took a handgun away from him. Denver Police have not commented on the situation.
