A Cottleville police officer [Sgt Jim Lyle] is on paid leave and is under investigation for his alleged involvement in a domestic dispute. Police in O'Fallon, Missouri arrested the officer who might face criminal charges. The officer allegedly pointed a gun on his wife, a licensed police officer as a St. Peters ranger. Reportedly because the allegations involved a use of firearm, O’Fallon police took the case quite seriously and put all points bulletin on police radios. The officer was arrested and has since been released with no charges.

A Cottleville police officer is on paid leave while a domestic dispute is under investigation. Cottleville Police Chief Scott Lewis said Friday that O'Fallon police were called about an incident early Wednesday morning involving his officer and the officer's wife, a St. Peters park ranger. Lewis said O'Fallon police investigated and have applied for charges. No charges had been filed as of Friday evening. Lewis said his department was conducting an internal investigation as well.
*St. Peters Rangers are certified commissioned Missouri law enforcement officers and are held to the same training standards and qualifications as other police officers.

The cottleville police dept has had many complaints on this officer. Harrassing citizens, abusing his authority as a police officer. I'm suprised they kept this loser on the force. You won't hear any of that from cottleville officials. I'm happy O'fallon Police Dept. is conducting the investigation.
ReplyDeletenice thing is the Chief knew about domestic issues 3 years ago when the wife claimed it would come down to this one day. But as usual for that officer nothing happened. The list goes on and on and on
ReplyDeleteIf she brought up those concerns to the dept. 3 years ago about this inept police officer, And cottleville kept him on the force all this time, I'd like to see that "internal" investigation if one was done. If this is brought up during the investigated by the O'fallon police department and they find nothing was done then the Cottleville Police Chief should get his walking papers and go manage a Steak and Shake.

What do you want to know Cloud? The stories go on and on and on.... rape accusation, brutality on a "DWI" stop with a woman, stealing cars, false arrests, arresting women but releasing them if a date is set I mean the stories really go on and on...

ReplyDeleteI'm sure he has no complaints since he's still getting paid! Cottleville is still writing him checks and waiting on O'fallon before discussing if there will be ANY disciplinary action not even mentioning termination.
ReplyDeletesgt jim lyle wiil not be back, his best friend and atty. Mr Eric L. Boehmer told me point blank and i have it on tape that his "friend" will be getting a sale's job. All of his arrest cases from what a little birde told me wont be filled. You can only guess why!!!!!!! Boehmer told me on tape that if they have a case he just wont show up to testify,if they chase him down and force him to testify he said he will forget any details.

ReplyDeleteThe girl he abused during a traffic stop should sue the town of cottleville and the police dept becouse they new of this officers problems and did nothing about it. Officer Lyle followed my wife into our subdivision, came on our property with his gun drawn and stated that my wife didn't come to a complete stop at an intersection in our Private Subdivision. By the way, my kid's and I were playing in our driveway when this incident took place.
ReplyDeleteThe city of cottleville NEEDS to clean house fire the mayor(YARBOR)Fire also lewis and lyle both cops need to be in jail, lyle for pulling a LOADED weapon on person and Lewis for tryying to cover this up!!!!! CNN's Larry king and staff is starting to look into this mess,wow the can of worms may be starting to open!!!!!I know someone who works for king,here is something the public DOES NOT KNOW, king works one hour a day for 56,500 per show, check that out if you think i dont know!!!!!

When I get busy I just approve messages and the one about Poole was ruthless - and I would have taken it down earleir if anyone had pointed it out. Since it was obviously in response to the D. It actually was not Yarber that got the DUI it was his minny me Gary. That is his partner in business. Wonder how many alchohol offenses you get while driving before you loose your liquor license????

on Lyle, there are corrupt people all around us. with certain powers, they can all turn evil. it has been seen throughout history. you, yourselves are turning your power of freedom of speech to try and give the mayor a bad name. what is the lesser of the two evils? your right, probably making comments about someone without actually knowing anything about them or the whole story. go set up a time and spend a day with the mayor in his office, he has already told numerous people that they can come by and see him, he is gracious and willing to do that, unlike some mayors. consider yourself lucky that you have someone like that in office.
you always want something that you don't have. you have someone who truly cares about the work that goes into making the community better and not someone who loves the title. get with it people!! seriously!!
(i know in saying all this, that there are things that i am missing too. but from the outside looking in, like everyone is doing with all of these comments, cottleville looks like a city that is doing quite well and the mayor should get some credit from those of you who want to cast the first stone. whoever those people are, why not come out and give us your past and who you are so that we can look up everything you have done and what credentials you have for making such harsh comments against yarber. that is a challenge if you can handle it)

As I read this I think this is the funniest thing ever.. Lyle was aquited of all charges in St. Charles County after his wife admitted to authorities she lied about the entire incident.. She then was picked up on other charges with St. Peters and pled guilty to them. How many of you know Jim Lyle? Have any of you ever truly needed something and called him to have him NOT show up? Nope, I can assure you of that. He is one of the nicest people I know. He is loved by many. Please go to casenet and look up this so called charge.. It is gone.. The original arrest was expunged by a State Judge.. Now how stupid do you accusations look? Get a job, get a life, but if you dont do any of those at LEAST STAY OFF OF THE INTERNET... Its making you all look like fools.

ReplyDeleteJim Lyle is good at what he does, he's a bully and uses his size and his words to intimidate people, one of which was his wife. Lyle was NOT acquitted of all charges in the gun incident, the charges were dropped by his wife as she sadly chose not to prosecute when she foolishly believed he would change. Knowing the charge would ruin any career for him he had the charges expunged. Lyle's wife never lied about the incident, not only did he pull a gun on her but he also physically assaulted her including choking her out and repeatedly hitting her which was well documented by O'Fallon PD including photographs. Before the charges were dropped by his wife you should know that Lyle's wife willingly submitted to a DNA test to prove she had never touched the gun. Lyle and his wife are now divorced after she caught him cheating on her for a second time.
