A Boynton Beach police officer acquitted of punching his wife and nearly strangling her after a night of drinking at a strip club last year was fired Wednesday. Officer Thomas Jones was acquitted of strangulation and domestic battery charges stemming from the Jan. 31, 2009, incident in April. In Jones' termination letter , City Manager Kurt Bressner said that although Jones was acquitted of the charges, "the legal standard of proof for a criminal case is different from the standard of proof for a disciplinary action as in this matter." According to an internal affairs report , Jones became annoyed with his wife's continued questioning about where he had been, who brought him home and where the vehicle or the keys were, so he punched her in the face, knocked her to the floor and repeatedly kicked her. The report said Jones then called her names, cursed at her and told her how much he hated her before placing her in a chokehold as she tried to get up from the floor. Bressner wrote in his termination letter that he was concerned about Jones' insistence that his wife had been unfaithful. Bressner wrote that Jones stated he found out about the infidelity from his mother after being released from jail. http://wap.wpbf.com/detail.jsp?key=692585&rc=ln_ne
BOYNTON BEACH COP FIRED OVER WIFE BEATING INCIDENT

...While a judge acquitted Jones April 29 on misdemeanor domestic battery charges, "the legal standard of proof for a criminal case is different from the standard of proof for a disciplinary action as in this matter," City Manager Kurt Bressner wrote Thursday, adding, "upon review (of) all the information before me, the action by the court was not the most compelling." According to an internal investigation, Jones' 26-year-old wife, a Boynton Beach officer since October 2005, told police that, about 2 a.m., she heard Jones yelling and cursing outside. She said Jones was incoherent and wouldn't say where he had been, who'd brought him home, or where their car and keys were. The wife persisted until Jones "became outraged and began to repeatedly punch her in the face," the report said. At one point, she said, he knocked her down and began kicking her. When she tried to get up, she said, Jones began to choke her. Fearing for her life, she bit his arm and tried to break free, but he pulled her hair... The woman called an off-duty Boynton Beach police officer, who came over to help, but did not call police because she did not want to risk her husband's career. A sergeant then came to the home and Jones was arrested. Yet another police officer later testified Jones warned arresting officers not to remove his handcuffs or he would "f— you up." An officer said Jones later calmed down and apologized. The wife also later said Jones had hurt her in the past but she never had revealed that to police... The wife was herself the subject of an internal affairs investigation after she gave conflicting details of the Jan. 31, 2009, incident. But that case was closed without any negative finding, police said. In October 2001, Jones was suspended for three weeks after an incident in which he injured a fellow law enforcement officer in a car crash. Police did not arrest Jones, but an internal investigation said that the police officers did not ask enough questions and should have done so. http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/crime/boynton-beach-cop-fired-over-wife-beating-incident-167732.html

TO ALL WHO HATE OFFICER THOMAS JONES. PLEASE BE NOTIFIED THAT OFFICER THOMAS JONES HAS BEEN CLEARED OF ALL WRONG DOING BY A COURT OF ARBITRATION AS OF WEDNESDAY FEB 16TH 2011. OFFICER JONES WAS ONCE BRUTALLY ATTACKED BY SOMEONE WHO DIDN'T KNOW HIM. IF YOU SEE THE SCAR ON HIS FACE WELL THAT CAME AT THE HANDS OF A BRUTAL ANIMAL WHO ATTACKED HIM FROM BEHIND WITH A BROKEN BOTTLE LONG BEFORE HE BECAME A POLICE OFFICER. IN FEB 2000 HIS YOUNGER BROTHER WAS SAVAGED TO DEATH BY A STREET GANG AT A PARTY GIVEN BY A WEALTHY FAMILY IN BOCA RATON. THIS DEVASTATED OFFICER JONES AND HIS FAMILY IN WAYS I CANT DESCRIBE. ALL BUT ONE OF THE MURDERING GANG MEMBERS GOT AWAY WITH THEIR CRIMES. OFFICER JONES HAS BEEN PERSECUTED FOR OVER A YEAR NOW BUT THE TABLES HAVE TURNED AND HE IS FULLY CLEARED. IF YOU FEEL DISAPPOINTED BY THIS NEWS IT MIGHT HELP TO KNOW THAT OFFICER JONES ONCE RAN INTO A BURNING HOUSE AND CARRIED A LITTLE BLACK GIRL TO SAFETY. IT REALLY IS THE TRUTH. IN THE END UNDERSTAND THAT POLICE OFFICERS SEE THE WORST THINGS BEING DONE TO INNOCENT PEOPLE. POLICE OFFICERS GET HURT TOO.
ReplyDeleteHe did it. He got away with it because she let him get away with it. Save your sad stories. He still got fired because what he did was f_cked up.
ReplyDeleteAnd if you weren't a racist you wouldn't have to mention that the girl he helped was African American.
Former Boynton Beach police officer accused of insurance fraud
ReplyDeleteMarch 02, 2010|By Erika Pesantes, Sun Sentinel
A former Boynton Beach police officer who was fired in January has been accused of insurance fraud, according to the state's Department of Financial Services.
Thomas Wesley Jones, 31, and his mother, Ernestine Tina Stamey Jones, submitted false information for auto insurance claims for the same accident in March 2009, according to an affidavit from the Department of Financial Services.
Thomas Jones told Auto Direct Insurance he was driving a 2003 Hummer and clipped a parked car in the 200 block of Northwest Eighth Court in Boynton Beach.
His mother made a claim for the same accident to Allstate Insurance and said she was the driver during that accident. However, her policy had lapsed.
