[Excerpts] A Marshallville police officer is accused of firing at or in the direction of his two adult sons following an argument at his home late Sunday, a sheriff’s investigator says. Larry Leon Moore, 51, was charged Monday with two counts of aggravated assault and reckless conduct, said Houston County sheriff’s Lt. Jon Holland. Moore is a police officer for the Marshallville Police Department... Tavoris Moore, who was attempting to leave when his father came out of the house with the handgun, jumped out of the car and fled on foot, Holland said. “He was scared to death,” Holland said. Meanwhile, Shundre Moore ran to a neighbor’s home and 911 was called, Holland said. When sheriff’s deputies arrived, Larry Moore was inside the home with his wife and would not come out for sheriff’s deputies, Clark said. The sheriff’s response team, a special tactical team, was dispatched, and Moore was talked out of the residence in less than an hour, Clark said. Moore was being held Monday without bond in the Houston County jail... Moore was fired in the fall of 2009 from the Fort Valley Police Department for lying during an internal investigation of a complaint into an “off-duty road rage” incident... [Full article here]
