Since when is it illegal for married couples or otherwise to yell at each other. What was not mentioned in the story was that at no time did I threaten either my wife or the officer. As far as I know there are no laws that prohibit married people from using foul lanuage towards each other when there are no other people present.

It was alleged that I was intoxicated and was blocking a lane of traffic, however they felled to mentioned that our vehicle was parked at the curb lane with the flashers on.

They indicated that I was intoxicated but apparentely not charged with DUI. I would like people who read these types of articles to be careful before they judge.

Unfortunatley I am a African American and my Wife is White. In retrospect I am embarrassed that I subjected my family, friends and my department to this unfortunate incident, however I remain convinced that if the Holland Police Officer was interested in my wife's safety as he claimed the second question out of his mouth after asking what the problem was and being told that my wife and I were arguing, should have been him asking her if she was alright.

Instead he told me I couldn't yell at her which is clearly not illegal in the state of ohio. What I was waiting for was for him to say the two of you should probably get into your vehicle and go home, instead he wanted to show me his power.

I have been involved in law enforcement for thirty years and I know what good police work is, and clearly it didn't occurr that night. Since then all charges have been dropped and the record expunged. I just thought people who read these stories on this site should have the facts.

Whenever there is a rush to judgement, justice is sacrificed.

The Toledo City Council sergeant-at-arms will remain on duty despite a weekend arrest for misdemeanor disorderly conduct, City Council President Wilma Brown said Monday.

Toledo Police Officer Harold Mosley, 54, who has served as the City Council's sergeant-at-arms for about two years, was taken into custody early Saturday morning by Holland police. According to a police report, Officer Mosley was suspected of using alcohol at the time.

Monday, Ms. Brown said she was aware of the incident but did not believe that council would take any action.

"I don't see how it would have any impact as far as council is concerned," she said. "His character, as far as I'm concerned, is very good."

Holland Police Chief Robert Reed declined to comment on the arrest, saying only that "the officer did what he had to do."

Officer Mosley, who was hired March 30, 1979, was taken to the Lucas County jail at about 1 a.m. Saturday and released at 4 a.m.

According to a Holland police report, Officer Mosley, and his wife were both outside their vehicle, which was stopped with its hazard lights on blocking a northbound lane on South McCord Road. The Holland officer stated that he stopped and approached the couple.

Toledo Police Chief Mike Navarre said Monday that he was notified of Officer Mosley's arrest early Saturday morning. He added that he since has initiated an administrative investigation of the incident.

As of Monday, Officer Mosley had not been relieved of duty and most likely will not face termination, the chief said. The officer has an unlisted phone number and could not be reached for comment.

According to information provided to Chief Navarre, Officer Mosley was yelling very loudly into his wife's face and using foul language. He apparently ignored the Holland officer's commands to stop.

Chief Navarre said he received the incident report Monday and that it was consistent with what he had been told over the weekend. He added that a recording from the Holland officer's dashboard camera would also be reviewed to determine what, if any, disciplinary action would result.

As sergeant-at-arms, Officer Mosley is responsible for providing security at all City Council meetings as well as at some committee meetings.

Disorderly conduct is a fourth-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to 30 days in jail and up to a $250 fine.

  3. Wow, good job Holland PD for doing what's right. Just another example of the crappy Toledo PD like driving while suspended at work, intoxicated, shootings off duty, and academy instructors molesting female recruits.
