NEWS EXCERPTS FROM JUNE 5 THROUGH JULY 17:

DOZENS GATHER AT PRAYER SERVICE FOR MISSING WOMAN
Southeast Missourian
By Erin Hevern
Sunday, June 5, 2011
[Excerpts] At least 100 people gathered at Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield on Saturday to pray for the safe return of a missing mother of three. More than three days after 39-year-old Jacque Sue Waller was last seen in Jackson, police haven't found or announced an arrest connected to her disappearance, though they announced Friday the seizure of a boat and a truck in the case. Waller was last seen at 5 p.m. Wednesday... The major case squad was activated Thursday to search for Waller, who was last seen in the area of Woodland Drive and North Neal Street. "They took me seriously from the minute I walked into the building," said Cheryl Brenneke, Waller's sister, at the prayer service Saturday. "I can't say enough about the Jackson Police Department and the major case squad. They are building a case." Waller had been living with Brenneke and her family in Ste. Genevieve since March. Barnes couldn't say where or when the boat was located and wouldn't say how the two investigations were connected. The owner of the boat has not been identified. He has also continued to be tight-lipped on the circumstances of Waller's disappearance... By Friday, many in the neighborhood had heard of Waller's disappearance and news of police investigating a missing boat triggered Renee Tilley's memory. Tilley, who lives along North Neal Street, said between 5:30 and 6 p.m. Wednesday she saw a blue sport utility vehicle speed west along Morton Street and then turn onto Neal Street. A boat, she said, was on a trailer behind the vehicle. "And there wasn't a woman driving that thing, either. There was a man behind the wheel," Tilley said... She didn't report the incident to police, because at the time she thought someone was just driving too fast through the neighborhood. Investigators interviewed her Friday afternoon, she said. In a Facebook post Thursday, Waller's mother, Ruby Rawson, wrote that her daughter had gone to Cape Girardeau to file for divorce Wednesday and hadn't been seen since. Also in her post she had asked friends to pray for their family... [Full article here]

[Excerpts] The parents of missing local mom Jacque Waller are now changing the focus of the reward fund. While they still want justice, their main goal is finding their daughter [Jaque Sue Rawson-Waller]. Initially the reward money was set up for anyone who could provide information leading to an arrest and conviction... [Jaque's parents] Stan and Ruby Rawson are now weary, but are more determined than ever to find their missing daughter, Jacque. "It's tough to watch your wife cry herself to sleep at night, and wake up crying in the night, and her crying and praying in the morning," said Stan Rawson-Jacque's Dad... "I don't care anything about the arrest and conviction part, that will take care of itself," said Stan Rawson. "I want my little girl." ... "I want the agony to stop," said Ruby Rawson. "I know there will be more, we can handle that if we just get her back and we know where she is... It's just wonderful the way people are coming out to help us"... [Full article here]

HUSBAND IS PERSON OF INTEREST, NOT SUSPECT, IN LOCAL WOMAN'S DISAPPEARANCE
Southeast Missourian
By Erin Hevern
Tuesday, June 7, 2011
[Excerpts] When Jacque Sue Waller left her sister's Ste. Genevieve, Mo., home June 1, she was the happiest her family had seen her in months. A year had passed since the mother of triplets had first announced she wanted a divorce, but Wednesday she planned to finally file the papers in Cape Girardeau. "She felt like everything was falling into place. She was so excited to get moved back here and back home," said Cheryl Brenneke, Waller's sister. The divorce papers were never filed, and Waller was reported missing late Wednesday by her family. On Monday, police named Clay Waller, her estranged husband, as the person of interest connected to her disappearance... foul play is suspected. While Clay Waller isn't a suspect in any crime at this time, he was the last person to see Waller before she was reported missing... [Jaque's] vehicle was found abandoned with a flat tire on Interstate 55 near Fruitland after her disappearance... Last week Clay Waller's truck was seized by police and processed for evidence, as was a boat... "There's a period of time we don't know where the boat was or where he was, so anybody that might have seen the boat attached to the red truck after 4 p.m. Wednesday, it would be helpful to have that information," [Lt. David] James said... "She was scared of him. She always told us he's not stable," said Brenneke... [Clay] Waller worked as a deputy for seven years and up until December co-owned Triple C Construction in Marble Hill, Mo., with Marsha Steger... [Full article here]

INVESTIGATOR SAYS PERSON OF INTEREST IN CASE OF MISSING WOMAN NO LONGER COOPERATING
Southeast Missourian
By Erin Hevern
Wednesday, June 8, 2011
[Excerpts] A tense scene unfolded at the Common Pleas Courthouse in Cape Girardeau on Tuesday when the family of Jacque Sue Waller came face to face with her estranged husband, who on Monday was named a person of interest in the mother of three's June 1 disappearance. A family member and Clay Waller were separated by courthouse security after a brief but heated exchange. Inside the courtroom, a judge decided Jacque Waller's sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Bob Brenneke, would continue to have custody of her three 5-year-old triplets. They were granted initial custody... While court was in session Tuesday, an investigator with the Cape Girardeau/Bollinger County Major Case Squad said Clay Waller was no longer cooperating with authorities and has only given a brief interview following his wife's disappearance... "At the point of her last known contact with other family members, that's where we lose contact and he can't provide any details other than the fact they argued over the divorce situation and she left on foot from the address on Woodland," major case squad deputy commander Lt. David James said Monday. She left 1121 Woodland Drive around 4 p.m., he added. James said Clay Waller then left the residence and returned around 6 p.m. to find Jacque Waller's vehicle gone. Other witnesses interviewed told the case squad they saw her vehicle at his home as late as 8:30 p.m... "We don't have a crime established yet. We've got a missing person, and Mr. Waller's the one who saw her last," James said. "Without enough information to determine her whereabouts, we're needing some help from the public"... The family believes an arrest will be made in connection to Jacque Waller's disappearance, but they're not expecting to see their loved one alive again, they agreed Tuesday. "I've got extreme confidence in the police in this," Stan Rawson said. "I don't have any confidence at all she's coming back"... [Full article here]

DEFINING JACQUE SUE WALLER: FAMILY, FRIENDS, CO-WORKERS REFLECT ON MISSING AREA WOMAN
Southeast Missourian
By Erin Hevern
Thursday, June 9, 2011
[Excerpts] Jacque Sue Waller, the woman missing from Jackson since June 1, knew the risks of in vitro fertilization... Like the major case squad, family, friends and co-workers close to Waller know her disappearance is out of character for a woman so devoted to her children. She'd do anything to surprise her children and make them happy, said friend and co-worker Bridgid Sample... "She was so funny. She could get me cracked up at the most inopportune times," said Sample, who worked with Waller at Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. The two were managers... Robin McQuay and Kimberly Pettit, also co-workers, called Waller a "great boss" always willing to help... Sample said she and other co-workers are leaning on one another as the investigation into Waller's disappearance continues. She said she knows Waller wouldn't want them to give up hope... 200 PEOPLE GATHER FOR PRAYER VIGIL FOR MISSING WOMAN
Southeast Missourian
By Erin Hevern
Friday, June 10, 2011
[Excerpts] For a group of childhood friends, coworkers and relatives searching for answers to Jacque Sue Waller's June 1 disappearance the only thing left to do is pray. "God is the refuge of the Rawson family ... to all of us," the Rev. Craig Bondenschatz said Thursday at a vigil for Waller... Following a group prayer, Stan Rawson addressed the crowd of around 200 and acknowledged the extensive investigative work of the Cape Girardeau/Bollinger County Major Case Squad, which was activated June 2 to look into Waller's disappearance. "I could say everything I know about the case, but I shouldn't. They assured me they won't stop," he said... Laurie Black, a high school friend of Waller's who helped organize the vigil, said the best outcome would be for there to be justice for the mother of triplets. She added that she hopes people sharing real accounts of Waller and her life will help people come forward with information about the case... Since Monday the squad has received numerous phone calls after police asked for information from anyone who saw Waller's vehicle... Investigators are also looking for information on where and when the public may have seen a red GMC Sierra pickup belonging to Jacque Waller's estranged husband Clay Waller and a fishing boat that at one time may have been on a black trailer attached to the truck. The squad seized and searched the truck and boat last week. Clay Waller, a former Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department deputy, was named as a person of interest... [Full article here]

FAMILY OFFERING CASH REWARD IN WALLER CASE

By Erin Hevern
Thursday, July 7, 2011
[Excerpts] Nearly $4,000 has been donated to the Jacque Sue Waller reward fund set up mid-June as incentive for someone with information on the woman's June 1 disappearance to come forward. Waller's parents, Stan and Ruby Rawson, confirmed the reward Wednesday after the information was posted Tuesday on the "Find Jacque S Waller" Facebook page... Waller's sister, Cheryl Brenneke, said the family is frustrated the person responsible for her disappearance is still "just walking around... We just want to find her. We're just sick of it," she said. "We just want to put an end to it"... Due to ground searches led by members of the community, many of them Waller's friends, additional leads have been generated. None has led authorities to Waller or substantial evidence to determine what happened to the mother of triplets. There is no evidence a crime was committed, according to police... [Jaque's husband, Clay] Waller, in his only interview with the major case squad, told police she left his home on foot angry, due to disagreement about a pending divorce. He left but returned a few hours later to find her vehicle gone. He's since stopped cooperating with police, according to detectives... [Full article here]

JACQUE WALLER'S PARENTS SAY THEY HAVE 'NO DOUBT' WHAT HAPPENED TO THEIR MISSING DAUGHTER

By Yunji De Nies
July 14, 2011
[Excerpts] As new clues emerge in the disappearance of Jacque Sue Waller, the Missouri mother of 5-year-old triplets who has been missing for more than six weeks, her family says she was a victim of domestic abuse, and say they stand by their claims that their daughter's estranged husband, Clay Waller, knows exactly where she is... Clay Waller was the last person to see his wife alive, on June 1, the day 39-year-old Jacque went missing. That day, she returned to Cape Girardeau, Mo., from nearby St. Genevieve, where she had been staying with family since the couple's separation weeks earlier. She met with her estranged husband and her attorney to finalize paperwork for their divorce, and later went to Waller's home to pick up her son. In an interview with police immediately following his wife's disappearance, Clay Waller said the couple fought and she left his home on Woodland Drive around 4 p.m by foot. He then left his home, he said, and returned around 6 p.m. to find her blue Honda Pilot gone. It was later found abandoned with a flat tire on a nearby interstate... "We are now well over 250 leads into it," James Humphreys, chief of police in Jackson, Mo., told ABC News of the investigation. "We still have not found Jacque but we're continuing to search every day and each week"... Rawson's wife, Ruby, told "GMA" she hasn't spoken to her former son-in-law in more than a month but did confront him on the night her daughter disappeared. "I asked him what he'd done to her and he said 'I didn't do anything,'" Mrs. Rawson said. "I said, 'Yeah, you did and you know you did, because of all the threats you've been saying to her over the last year.'" "He said, 'I have never threatened her,'" she told "GMA" of their heated conversation. "And I said, 'Yes, you did, and we knew it all along.'" Jacque Waller's sister, Cheryl Brenneke, also told ABC News that her sister feared what her husband may do if she ever left him. "He'd been threatening her for a solid year," she said. "He told her that divorcing her would be a death sentence." "She always said, 'you don't know what he's capable of, I just don't want to be dead,'" Brenneke told ABC... Mrs. Rawson told "GMA" it was not until her daughter and son-in-law's separation earlier this year that the family learned of the abuse they say their daughter suffered. "When she moved up here in March, she started telling us about threats on her life and how worried that she was that he was going to follow through," she said... [Full article here]

By Erin Hevern
Thursday, July 14, 2011
[Excerpts] Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield business cards belonging to Jacque Sue Waller, a mother of triplets missing from Jackson for 44 days, were found Monday on Highway 177 by a Cape Girardeau County resident... Waller was a manager at the Cape Girardeau location... "I don't know if they've been out there since day one or how long they've been there," James said. "The people that found them don't remember seeing them before, when they go about their daily routine activities"... Her sister, Cheryl Brenneke, said Wednesday that Waller carried the business cards in her purse. Waller had been working out of an office at Brenneke's home for seven days. She returned to Cape Girardeau and Jackson the day of her disappearance to file some paperwork and finalize her divorce with her estranged husband, Clay Waller, a person of interest...Brenneke said she believes someone placed the cards in the area on purpose, although she wasn't sure if the person is trying to lead them to her sister or not... "A lot of officers are working this case diligently and treating it like she's a member of their own family," [Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Lt. David] James said... [Full article here]

[Excerpts] The family of Jacque Sue Waller, a missing mother of young triplets from Missouri, said today she was a victim of domestic abuse. The family also said they suspect her estranged husband, Clay Waller, whom police have identified as a person of interest, is involved in her disappearance. "He tore my family to pieces," Jacque Waller's father, Stan Rawson, said today on ABC's "Good Morning America." "I have no doubt in my mind." According to GMA, Rawson stands by a July 13 post he made to a social networking website in which he first made his suspicions clear to the public. "I just wanted to mention that you're not fooling anybody at all," he posted on the "Find Jacque S Waller" Facebook page. "I understand the sheriff has an orange jumpsuit picked out for you, and a fine room at the Cross Bar Hotel. You will regret hurting my girl and the Tripps -- I promise you you will!" Jacque Waller's sister, Cheryl Brenneke, said her sister was afraid of her husband. "He'd been threatening her for a solid year," Brenneke told ABC News. "He told her that divorcing her would be a death sentence." The 39-year-old Cape Girardeau woman was last seen on June 1, when she went to Waller's house to pick up her son. What happened to her after that remains a mystery... Clay Waller, a former police officer, has been named a person of interest in the case... "The police are operating on the assumption that something must have happened, that's for sure," Rawson told "Good Morning America" today. "I am operating on the assumption that something did happen, and have no doubt in my mind about what happened." [Full article here]

  1. JACQUE WALLER: MOM OF TRIPLETS MISSING, EX HIRES LAWYER WITH TROUBLES OF HIS OWN
    Examiner.com
    Isabelle Zehnder, Missing Persons Examiner
    July 17, 2011
[Excerpts] As the search for the missing Missouri mom of triplets intensifies her friends, family, and supporters have raised concerns that her estranged husband, James "Clay" Waller's, attorney Scott Douglas Reynolds of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, had serious troubles of his own earlier last year. Supporters on the Find Jacque S Waller Facebook page shared their concerns that the attorney was arrested and convicted in a domestic violence incident with his fiancée... KFVS12 reported in February 2010 that a Cape Giradeau lawyer named Scott Reynolds was arrested on charges of felony armed criminal action, domestic violence, and endangering the welfare of a child... News reports and a Probable Cause Affidavit filed by Deputy Heather VanGennip show Reynolds assaulted his fiancée, Jacqueline Carter... The victim said Reynolds pulled out some of her hair... Reynolds reportedly began to choke her and punched her in the face and head numerous times. The Affidafit shows that after the victim yelled at her daughter to get her shoes Reynolds pointed a .357 revolver in his fiancée’s face and pulled the trigger five times. The victim said in her affidavit that she had unloaded the gun days prior out of fear for her life. The Semissourian.com reports at the time she feared for her life because she didn't know if he'd reloaded the firearm. Officers saw red marks on the victim’s throat, from her left to her right ear and a red mark the size of a softball on her back. They also saw other numerous cuts on her finger, face and forearm... The incident occurred in front of Jacqueline's 6-year-old child. Reynolds was taken into custody and held on $200,000 cash bond... Reynolds' case was moved to Boone County... According to police Reynolds refused to put up his hands when they arrived. He also refused to get on the ground shouting, “Scott Reynolds, the attorney. I’ve been practicing law for 20 years (expletive) years,” KFVS12 reports. In October 2010 KFVS12 reports that Reynolds was a free man after he reached a deal with prosecutors just before his trial was scheduled to begin... This is an amazing article. I helped search on Saturday 07.16.11 and the "poi" driving by and flipping the bird definately does "NOT" show his sympathy for his missing wife .. getting divorced or not, he should care enough about her to want her back, not flip us off searching for her. I cant help but wonder if we were too close for comfort or wth he is thinking?? I do not think he is innocent at all, he KNOWS where she is and needs to tell the authorities so this family can have the closure they need and his sorry butt can go to prison where he belongs. I dont care about anything right now except for them finding justcice for jacque! This family and especially the kids deserve it! He will pay for his actions one day, I would hate to be him when he has to answer to god for this! He will burn in hell where he belongs!!

It is so obvious that her ex-husband is guilty of taking her, and obviously, killing her. The simple fact that he can't look the camera in the eye and speak about her shows his guilt. This breaks my heart and I pray he has enough decency to admit to law enforcement and this family what he did and where he put her body so they can have some closure! Thank God the family have relatives to love and care for her children. God will take care of punishing her ex husband regardless! We are praying, against all odds, she can be found alive and returned to those beautiful children!

  8. New developments in Jacque Waller case
    KSDK
    Nov 18, 2011
    By Kasey Joyce

Jackson, MO (KSDK) - There are new developments in the disappearance of Jacque Waller. Attorneys were in court Friday to argue over a key piece of evidence in the case against her husband Clay Waller. At issue was whether the prosecution had the right to depose Clay's father, James.

James Waller told police his son confessed to killing his wife, Jacque, and burying her body in a hole on June 1, the day she disappeared. Prosecutors argue this is a key part of the case against Clay. But there's a problem: James is in poor health and prosecutors worry he won't make it to trial.

Prosecutors asked the judge to let them tape a deposition with James, just in case. Right now, Clay is only a person of interest in the case. He has not been charged.

But because there is not a pending charge against him, judge decided not to allow the deposition, siding with Waller's attorney, Scott Reynolds.

"I think the judge did his job, applied the law and did it correctly," Reynolds said.

A spokesperson for the Waller family said they were disappointed.

"If that's the law, we're going to need to follow the law," spokesperson Laura Helbig said. "There are going to be decisions on both sides that we're not going to like. In the end, what we care about is justice for Jacque. And we want to bring her home."

Clay Waller is due back in court next month to be sentenced for threatening Jacque Waller's sister.
