[Excerpts] Lawrence Carpico was a good father, a good husband and well-respected in his job as an Allegheny County homicide detective. That was what Mt. Lebanon police Detective Paul Petras was told when he and other members of the South Hills Area Council of Governments Critical Incident Response Team arrived at Adeline Avenue in Mt. Lebanon on Saturday night... Throughout the evening on Saturday, police maintained on-and-off communication with Detective Carpico. He made it clear he was alone and did not intend to hurt anyone else... Detective Carpico often talked with his wife about the stresses of his job... Mrs. Carpico did not want to go into detail about what happened Saturday night, but she said her husband had been stressed about other things, not just his job.
