[EXCERPTS] A Perry County woman who alleged that her husband, a Kentucky state trooper, assaulted her in August last year has filed a lawsuit against him and several other troopers who investigated the case. According to the lawsuit, Terri Lynn Moore claims that troopers with the state police post in Hazard attempted to protect her husband, Terry Lloyd Brewer, who could lose his job if convicted of domestic violence because it threatens his right to carry a gun... The lawsuit says the troopers treated Moore as the criminal, even threatening to arrest her. Troopers also helped Brewer obtain an emergency protective order against Moore, even though she was the victim of the assault... Moore says, Brewer verbally abused and threatened her, hit her and would not allow her to leave his home. David Banks and John McMahan, the investigating officers who responded to the disturbance, treated Moore with "disdain" and acted as though Brewer were the victim, the lawsuit says... According to the lawsuit, officials with internal affairs also dismissed Moore's claims and "failed to thoroughly investigate... Internal affairs "demeaned, humiliated, intimidated and debased her during the interview process," the lawsuit says... Moore is seeking compensation for pain and suffering, past and future medical expenses, lost wages, loss of earning capacity and attorneys' fees...

Guess what! Moore forced to drop case or be falsely arrested for telling, yet she became the accused... NONE of her witnesses to physical injuries called...All of defendants were audio-taped; none of hers were EVER even talked with. Blatant and horrific abuse of power, threats, and Ky's legal system. Moore's brother, a KSP Sergeant of records (trying to protect her silently) committed suicide recently in part due to this case. Sickening!! NO wonder women don't tell!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear all of the above... and so sorry about her brother!!!! That is so sad. She is not defeated to me though - because she tried. We have to try.
ReplyDeleteTo the ANONYMOUS commenter who establishes their authority with "I am an author who has looked into this case for possible information that could be used in my upcoming book on police violence..."
ReplyDeleteI didn't approve your comment because if what you are contributing as facts are true, you should be able to use your name - and if you are an author I should be able to confirm that easily with a Google search.
Normally I don't nitpick but because of the nature of what you present to be the facts, I think it's worthwhile to check their said source.

Toni and I wish to express our deepest sympathies and offer our hearts, thoughts and prayers to the family and friends during this difficult time. Terry was a wonderful person to be around and we feel blessed to have known her over the years.
Terri was a sister to Billy and Randy Moore of Graphic Impressions in Hazard and she is going to be greatly missed.
