A former Russell County sheriff's deputy pleads not guilty to murdering his wife. Police say Ronald Copley shot and killed his wife last November after a domestic dispute. He then fled in his vehicle and led authorities on a chase until he wrecked. Copley was treated for injuries at an area hospital before being transferred to jail. At his arraignment Jan. 8, he pleaded not guilty to first degree murder, wanton endangerment and burglary. Copley's pre-trial conference is scheduled for April 22, followed by a jury trial the first week of November.
Yes that was the full article. "He" is referred to six times in that short piece, and Pam is referred to only once, as "HIS wife." Her NAME is Pamela Gayle Copley.
