Police officer accidentally strikes wife with car

TAUNTON - Patrolman Steve Crowninshield’s wife Paula was injured in a car accident Tuesday night about 7:20 p.m. in which she was struck by Crowninshield’s car when he was returning home from diving in New Bedford Harbor after a day searching for a missing fisherman. Crowninshield is a member of the Taunton Police Dive Team. The well-liked city officer was pulling into the driveway of their 106 Crane Ave. home, which is partially obscured by a hedge, according to a source, at the same time his wife was going to get mail from their mailbox, and struck her. She was flown by helicopter to a Boston hospital and her condition was not immediately available.
