[Excerpts] ...Police were called to the home on [X] Avenue around 2 a.m. for what they said appeared to have been a domestic dispute. Neighbors told Newswatch 16 they heard several shots fired... Charles Williams lives next door to the Miller's. He was shocked to hear about the shooting. "Very nice people. He was nice, he worked hard on his home. He'd come over here and bring his dogs and we'd talk to them. And she helped my wife carry groceries in sometimes. They were always helpful," said Williams. Even though police have not said much about what happened inside the Millers' home, neighbors were surprised to hear a dispute between the two ended deadly. "They were a very nice family. You just never know nowadays and it's a shame, it really is," added Williams... [Full article here]

SUNBURY STUNNED BY DOMESTIC SHOOTING, MANY ARE SADDENED

[Excerpts] A neighborhood is in shock and the City of Sunbury saddened by a violent, deadly, domestic dispute this morning. Sunbury police tell us they got a call about a domestic incident and multiple gunshots around 2a.m... A deputy coroner pronounced Mrs. [Robin Lee] Miller dead around 3a.m... Family members and friends were seen Saturday afternoon gathered, crying in front of the home, packing and taking boxes from the home... Sunbury Police Chief Steven Mazzeo says it is a tragedy, and thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Corporal Miller and his wife had been married since 2008, and took care of three young children. Miller had worked with the Sunbury Police Department since 1999, and had been very active in the community with DARE and Crimewatch. Sunbury Mayor David Persing says Miller was even ready to take his test to become a sergeant next week, so that’s what makes the incident even more senseless and puzzling. Persing says he doesn’t know if anyone will ever understand how this could happen, but hopes there could be insight into a reason after an investigation. He says there were no prior warnings or inclinations that this would ever happen... Ralpho Township and Mt. Carmel Police were able to help provide police coverage in the city while Sunbury Police were on the scene. Numerous other crews from surrounding counties also helped at the scene, as did the Northumberland County DA’s and coroner’s offices. For a time this morning, police coverage in Sunbury was provided by outside police agencies--Mt. Carmel Township police, Ralpho Township police, and others. Shamokin Dam officers also assisted for a time today. [Full article here]

  2. officer miller was at my house for an incident that Thursday he joked with me a little about normal stuff. He came to my house before he even went to the call house. I knew him pretty well over the years just talked about my situation with my ex and me raising my kids on my own. My daughter was there and said hi to him. She cried when she heard me my friend woke me at 4am just a few hours after it happened my family and I still are very upset just knowing myself about happened knowing i talk to officer miller about women and problems. My heart goes out to both sides of the family and to the Sunbury police who needs to hold there heads up high and move forward. It is very Sad that he was Such a good cop who was so very much a part of so many kid's lives here in Sunbury that many kids got hurt also. I hope God will find a way to forgive him. There can never be an excuse to murder a wife or girlfriend. He could have moved out. Gave time a chance to change things it always does I did have a room he knew he could of rented from me cheap.

  3. I don't understand how they can say that he may have been drunk when they didn't have any test results done on him they only have her, "Text". He was a good officer and involved in many things to help the community, it seems they are blaming him for all of it, maybe he snapped, it happens, she could have driven him to it, he had a bag packed, so sad and many questions unanswered...

  4. Surely no one suggests to blame Robin for this. I am a lifelong friend of hers, and I won't hear of it. I am sure there are many Police officers around the globe who are upstanding heroes to many and thankfully so. Too bad they do are not as devoted to their loved ones. I am not discrediting Mike's ability as a devoted cop. It isn't about his work ethic...it's about MURDER. I will say that Robin was not alone being an abused wife/girlfriend of a Sunbury police officer. Check your men, Mr. Police Chief...I beg of you. You'd might be surprised...or rather appalled!!!!!

  5. My first thought is that any fearful victims in the Sunbury Police family need to safely get in contact with someone to go over their options with. If they don't know who can be trusted I might be able to help with that.

Your comment begs the question - is the chief already AWARE of other incidents with other officers? Is he handling them the same way?

  6. I'm not trying to BLAME the chief, but he has put himself in a position. More facts need to come out before anyone can point fingers at anyone but Michael. But what IS known so far sure does establish the need for all the facts to be on the table.

I expect Sunbury Police to visibly and swiftly change their policy and procedure.

At this point I am most frightened by PCADV's response. If they do not even acknowledge the problem, then who is helping officer-involved domestic violence victims in PA?

  7. Robin was my best friend, she was the most unselfish person I have EVER met. I was her matron of homor in their wedding. I have known her since we met in kindergarten. The beautiful things that have been written about Robin is overwhelming, especially from complete strangers. I agree with people when they say Michael was a very pleasant, nice guy. he never once said anything mean or nasty about people, at least not to me! However, I have also heard him scream at Robin via cell phone during an argument!! I have heard the way he talked to her, the mother of his only child, when he thought nobody was listening!

  8. I'm so sorry your best friend was stolen this way.

It's awful. Awful. I have a few best friends, and can't imagine...
