Morgan County Sheriff Ana Franklin said Fanning has been terminated from the department. “He had not turned in his uniform, but he has been notified (of his termination),” she said... [Excerpts] A Morgan County deputy arrested on domestic violence charges will be terminated from his job, Sheriff Ana Franklin said Thursday... Fanning faces charges of second-degree domestic violence and strangulation. Both are Class B felonies. Franklin said she told Fanning on Thursday afternoon that he was being terminated for conduct unbecoming a law enforcement officer, but the paperwork on his dismissal had not been completed. She said Fanning would be given an official termination letter later. “It was ordered in a protection from abuse order that all weapons be surrendered, so he’s unable to perform the duties of his job, and his conduct relative to this case was such that he needed to be terminated,” Franklin said. “These are serious charges,” she said...
