  1. PANEL UPHOLDS FIRING OF DUBUQUE COUNTY DEPUTY
    The Associated Press
    Apr 04 2012
The Dubuque County Civil Service Commission has upheld the firing of a sheriff's deputy who is charged with burglary and stalking. The Dubuque Telegraph Herald says the commission decision was disclosed on Tuesday. The commission says the decision to fire Deputy James Doyle was based on violations of department policies and procedures. A letter from the commission didn't specifically mention the criminal charges. The 48-year-old Doyle is accused of threatening his ex-wife's boyfriend and damaging the man's boat. A criminal complaint says Doyle called Randy Hansen about 30 times between September 2010 and October 2011 and says Doyle went into Hansen's garage and damaged the boat. Doyle has pleaded not guilty to felony burglary and misdemeanor stalking. Online court records don't list a trial date.
