[IL] Ex-sgt Peterson's neighbor: "In the event that anything happens to me..."

..."I wish to personally thank Sharon Bychowski and her son Roy. Their recent public statements, Internet postings, their call for a boycott of Tailgaters tavern, and the fact that they are strategically placing signs in positions to annoy Drew, only proves that they are psychologically obsessed with tormenting Drew, rather than with finding Stacy," said attorney Joel Brodsky....

The attorney for Drew Peterson has gone on the attack against neighbors of his client, accusing them of cyber-stalking and organizing ways to harass him. "They're keeping track of where he goes, what he does and who he sees," said Joel Brodsky, Peterson's attorney. "They're also in the course of putting up [Find Stacy Peterson] signs along where he drives. Then you put on top of that their own statements [that they] do these things to make his life miserable, that is a course of conduct designed to cause Drew substantial emotional distress"... Peterson, 54, is a suspect in the Oct. 28 disappearance of his wife, Stacy, who was 23 at the time. The former Bolingbrook police sergeant has been dueling with his next door neighbor, Sharon Bychowski, since Stacy vanished. Bychowski was a close friend of Stacy... "He's trying to torment me because I'm not giving up on finding Stacy Peterson," Bychowski said. "I'm not now, not ever, giving up on Stacy Peterson"... [Full article here]

By JOE HOSEY Staff Writer
Tensions on Pheasant Chase Court escalated as a second police report was filed in the past five days, and one resident says her life is in jeopardy. "I fear for my life," said Sharon Bychowski, the best friend and next-door neighbor of missing mom Stacy Peterson... "In the event that anything happens to me, I want the public to know I fear for my life," Bychowski said. "I feel closer to Stacy and Kathleen than ever." Bychowski's recent trepidation was induced by Peterson's newfound and brief ability to open and close her garage door at will. Peterson reclaimed his two cars from the state police Tuesday morning. Inside the cars he found three garage door openers... Bychowski said she gave Stacy the opener so she could store items there for a garage sale... "I physically watched him look at the house and hit the button," he said. Bychowski then called the police, and two officers responded... The officers asked Peterson to surrender the opener, and even offered to replace it, said police Lt. Ken Teppel, but he refused, claiming it belonged to him.... [Full article here]

Lawyer claims vendetta
Chicago Suburban News

Drew Peterson's attorney says his client's next-door neighbor has a "vendetta" against him, tainting any testimony she might give in court. "I wish to personally thank Sharon Bychowski and her son Roy. "It is clear that any evidence or testimony they could have given against Drew is now so badly tainted by their statements and actions as to be of no value in any prosecution of Drew," Brodsky said. "Their preoccupation with Drew's personal life is proof that they care more about pursuing an ill-advised vendetta against Drew than about finding Stacy, or law enforcement pursing a fair and untainted investigation of her disappearance."... "Tell us where she is, Drew, and we can take the signs down," Bychowski said. "We are only looking for Stacy. Why aren't you?"... [Full article here]

Joel Brodsky & Drew Peterson: A Strange Marriage Indeed
American Chronicle, CA
Rebekah Price
March 17, 2008
...With enough circumstantial evidence surrounding Stacy Peterson´s disappearance alone to indict most mortals, one gets a rancid stew of a smelly investigation and tepid justice. Drew Peterson sits there like a smarmy cockroach in a well-stocked kitchen, while Joel Brodsky´s probably dreaming of publishers clamoring for his book, perhaps entitled, "I Knew He Did It". A magnum opus offering to clear his name from any connection to Peterson´s personal circus, if he is, in fact, charged and convicted... [Full article here]
