[Excerpts] A Detroit Police officer was arrested this afternoon following an apparent domestic dispute in which shots were fired. Canton Township Police said the incident occurred when an argument between two people escalated into gunfire. Authorities would only identify both people as being in their late 30s or early 40s. A woman complained of "bumps and bruises," but no one was hospitalized or hit with bullets...

[Excerpts] An off-duty Detroit Police officer was arrested in Canton Township Tuesday for allegedly striking his girlfriend with a baseball bat and firing three rounds from his service revolver... When the man and woman ended up in the garage, the 42-year-old officer hit the 37-year-old woman in the legs with a baseball bat, Pomorski said. Pomorski said the fight continued outside, where the man fired three rounds... The woman refused treatment for bruises on her legs...

As 35th District Court Judge Michael Gerou handed down the bond, which comes with a 10-percent provision, Steele muttered and shook his head in disbelief. Assistant Prosecutor Scott Ehlfeldt argued for the high cash bond saying [Kimberly] is terrified of Steele. Goldpaugh countered that his client has been a model police officer for eight years and doesn’t pose a flight risk. Gerou disagreed saying Steele could be a threat to public safety. “The presumption is great these offenses occurred,” he said.
