A Baltimore judge has thrown out a $60 million lawsuit filed by former police commissioner Kevin P. Clark, ending for now the possibility of a trial that would have brought Gov. Martin O'Malley to the stand. O'Malley, who was then Baltimore mayor, fired Clark in November 2004, saying that domestic abuse allegations against Clark had become a distraction. However, an investigation found no evidence of abuse. Clark claims in his lawsuit that the firing was illegal and seeks reinstatement to his job. But Baltimore Circuit Judge Albert J. Matricciani Jr. disagreed, granting the city's motion for summary judgment today. A. Dwight Pettit, Clark's attorney, said he would appeal to the state's highest court, which previously reinstated the lawsuit after Matricciani threw it out in 2005... [Full article here]
