LONE GROVE OFFICER CLEARED OF CHARGES
KTEN
Nov 12, 2008
An officer in Lone Grove, Oklahoma was put on paid leave after being accused of hitting his girl friend. But, the officer has since been cleared of all charges. His job duties, though, remain up in the air. KTEN's Meredith Saldana has more. According the couple's friends they had a disagreement Monday night. Police reports show Deborah Laird told police she shoved her boyfriend, Lone Grove Police Officer Jamie Randolph who then, hit her back. The investigation was turned over to District Attorney Craig Ladd who made a decision Wednesday. Ladd talks about his decision, "That's right I had a chance to meet with the investigating officer, a deputy with the sheriff's department, today and also look over the written reports. Based on my reading of the reports and meeting with the investigating officer. I think the evidence is insufficient to file charges based on what's been presented to our office." Police reports also reveal Randolph said he didn't even see Laird that night, other than in passing. We spoke with Randolph, who had no comment but, said he didn't know if he would be reinstated. We also contacted Lone Grove Police, but they wouldn't comment on Randolph's status. http://www.kten.com/Global/story.asp?S=9340065
