CREVE COEUR OFFICER'S ARREST NOT FIRST RUN-IN: Journal Star records show Jeremy Ellis arrested year ago for domestic violence

[Excerpts] The arrest Friday of a Creve Coeur police officer for allegedly battering a woman in Bartonville three weeks earlier marked the second time the officer was arrested for a violent incident with the same woman. Jeremy Ellis, 28, of Pekin was arrested Friday on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm, domestic battery and criminal trespass to a residence. He posted $122 bond and was released from the Peoria County Jail on Saturday... According to a report on the incident, Ellis followed her inside her apartment and refused to leave. He allegedly became upset after reading text messages on [his girlfriend]'s cell phone and held her down on the couch. While straddling and choking her, he pulled what [his girlfriend] referred to as Ellis' "off-duty gun" from his waistband and pointed it at her head, threatening to kill her if she didn't comply... [His girlfriend] tried to escape Ellis, and he pushed her backward. She tripped over an open dresser drawer and fell backward into the dresser, bruising her back. [His girlfriend] took a photo of her injury... Ellis has been placed on paid administrative leave... He and [his girlfriend] were arrested one year ago, each on a domestic battery charge, after an incident in which few details were released at the time.
