  1. Gee, what is this? JONES said that HE said that he didn't do it, there is no mention of the victim, the sheriff won't pick up the phone, and the prosecutor won't explain. Stinks.

DEPUTY OUT ON LEAVE AFTER ARREST IN ASSAULT

A former Forsyth County deputy was acquitted Tuesday of misdemeanor charges involving his estranged wife, court records show.

Jonathan G. Jones, 41, of Clemmons was found not guilty by Judge Thomas Jarrell in Forsyth District Court. Jones was charged with assault on a female and interfering with an emergency communication.

Jones was accused of grabbing [LMWJ], his wife, on Nov. 16, throwing a pumpkin at her and grabbing a phone from her, causing her to hang up when she called 911. Jones and his wife don't live together.

Jones, a former sergeant, was fired last month after the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office investigated the allegations against him. He had worked as a deputy for 12 years, most recently as a supervisor of the deputies who provide courtroom security in the Forsyth County Hall of Justice.

Sheri Woodyard, an assistant district attorney in Davidson County, prosecuted Jones' case. She declined to comment Thursday.

Jarrell typically presides in Guilford County, but he and Woodyard handled Jones' case because Jones knows most court personnel, said Carl Parrish, Jones' attorney.

Jones said he testified at his hearing that he didn't throw a pumpkin at his wife and didn't prevent her from calling 911. Jones declined to comment further.

Sheriff Bill Schatzman of Forsyth County could not be reached Thursday night to comment on whether he would consider rehiring Jones.

Ms. Rendell your comments at some point will be read by our children and you should know, it will affect them greatly. You can ask anyone that knows me, I am far from arrogant. Remember what they say about opinions?
