HE HAD JUST BEEN ARRESTED FOR ATTACKING A WOMAN - MAYBE THE SAME VICTIM AS THIS TIME (A FEMALE POLICE OFFICER) - 2 WEEKS EARLIER, BUT THE PROSECUTOR DECIDED TO NOT PROSECUTE HIM. NOW THE STILL-EMPLOYED COP FORCES A FEMALE POLICE OFFICER OUT INTO THE WOODS AND PISTOL WHIPS HER - AND NOW WHAT??? - NOW THEY ARE TRYING TO DECIDE IF THEY SHOULD SUSPEND HIM OR TAKE AWAY HIS WEAPON?

[Excerpts] A Bridgeport police officer was charged early Wednesday with kidnapping and pistol-whipping a fellow officer in what was described by Ansonia police as a domestic dispute. Officer Andre Orbegozo, 32, of Mallane Lane, Naugatuck, was charged with second-degree assault with a firearm and second-degree kidnapping with a firearm... BRIDGEPORT CHIEF BRYAN T. NORWOOD SAID SUPERVISORS ARE CONFERRING WITH THE BOARD OF POLICE COMMISSIONERS ON WHETHER ORBEGOZO SHOULD BE SUSPENDED OR HAVE HIS GUN SEIZED... Ansonia officers were sent to investigate about 3 p.m. at Griffin Hospital in Derby, where Orbegozo's girlfriend, identified only as a Bridgeport officer in her mid-20s, was taken by Orbegozo after the incident. Orbegozo allegedly abducted the woman from her Ansonia home at gunpoint and forced her to walk about a half-mile through a heavily wooded area behind Ansonia High School to a site near a city reservoir, police said. During the incident, Orbegozo allegedly struck the woman in the head with a firearm, causing a serious laceration. The woman told Orbegozo that she needed medical attention and he drove her to Griffin Hospital for treatment... Bridgeport police notified Ansonia law enforcement of what was happening and who was involved. Police seized three firearms from Orbegozo, including his service weapon. Williams said it appears Orbegozo used his service weapon during the abduction. Superior Court Judge Karen Sequino ordered Orbegozo held on $500,000 bond during his arraignment Wednesday afternoon in Derby Superior Court. The judge also ordered Orbegozo to undergo a psychiatric evaluation and to be placed under suicide watch while he is in custody... THE INCIDENT WEDNESDAY IS THE SECOND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ARREST FOR ORBEGOZO IN THREE MONTHS. NAUGATUCK POLICE ARRESTED ORBEGOZO ON APRIL 16 AT HIS RESIDENCE AND CHARGED HIM WITH DISORDERLY CONDUCT AND SECOND-DEGREE UNLAWFUL RESTRAINT FOR AN INCIDENT INVOLVING A FORMER GIRLFRIEND... THE STATE'S ATTORNEY'S OFFICE IN WATERBURY ENTERED A NOLLE ON BOTH CHARGES MAY 13. A NOLLE IS ENTERED WHEN THE PROSECUTOR DECIDES THAT GOING FORWARD WITH A CRIMINAL CASE IS NOT IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST OR THAT THE EVIDENCE WOULD NOT PROVE TO A JURY THE DEFENDANT'S GUILT BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT. The state's attorney's office said it could reopen the case within 13 months.

  5. I grew up with Andre he was a nice kid very smart his father a hai-alai player his family are just great people...this was a shock to me and I believe this could have been averted with proper counseling...wether it's a police officer or average citizen domestic violence should never be ignored.
