
Firefighter faces charges in Quincy domestic assault

A 46-year-old Boston firefighter arrested over the weekend for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend is expected to appear in a Quincy court this morning... Joseph Houlder will be arraigned today in Quincy District Court accused of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon... Steve MacDonald, spokesman for the Fire Department, confirmed last night that Houlder is a firefighter, but said the department had not been notified of an arrest... A police source said Houlder is accused of assaulting his girlfriend by throwing a jewelry box and other {???} objects at her... MacDonald said any firefighter involved in a court action must notify a supervisor. Officials then decide what, if any, action to take. A FEW MONTHS AGO REGARDING A BOSTON FIRE DEPARTMENT INSPECTOR:
"...[HE] PLEADED NOT GUILTY TO TWO COUNTS OF ASSAULT AND BATTERY ON A POLICE OFFICER, ASSAULT AND BATTERY, DISORDERLY CONDUCT, AND RESISTING ARREST..."
AND AT THE SAME TIME ANOTHER BOSTON FIREFIGHTER WAS ARRESTED AGAIN. REGARDING HIS PREVIOUS BATTERY CASES:
"...PROSECUTORS SAID THERE WAS ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO GO TO TRIAL BOTH TIMES, BUT AGREED TO DISMISS THE CHARGES AS LONG AS GASTON STAYED OUT OF TROUBLE..."
