[Excerpt] ...Sheriff Kevin Beary: "As a law enforcement officer I take solace in the fact that the investigation into this matter is in the good hands of the Mt. Dora Police Department. Domestic violence and the tremendous impact it has on its victims, families and the loved ones close to those involved has always been a matter of great personal concern to me, when something like this hits so close to home it takes the life right out of you... As a father, I am obviously thankful that my daughter and son-in-law are well and I pray that whatever led up to this incident is something that can be worked out so that all involved can move forward with their lives, this is a matter that will be handled by the parties involved. Please afford them the privacy that is appropriate as this incident works itself through the authorities and to the proper resolution"... [Full article here]

  1. Thank God that Beary will not be our sheriff much longer. He should have never been elected in the first place. Let's see, this makes at least 2 of the Beary family that has been arrested now. First, his brother, Randy, and now his son in law? Shame!

  2. I am not sure what the "anonymous" blogger is talking about. Why would you bring Sheriff Beary's family into it? Do you have any control over the action of your adult siblings, cousins, parents, etc? The incidents with different family members that have happended have nothing to do with the hard work and dedication he has put into Orange County for the last 14 years of his life as Sheriff.

  3. 911 Call Released In Alleged Battery Of Sheriff Beary's Daughter
    WFtv.com, FL
    September 23, 2008

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- The 911 call made by Sheriff Kevin Beary's daughter was released Tuesday. She was in the middle of a violent domestic dispute with her deputy husband.

    "I, I, I don't know. I don't know what to do," she told the 911 dispatcher.

Moments after a fight with her husband left her bleeding, Sheriff Beary's daughter dialed 911. But, in a newly released recording of her conversation with operators, she struggles with her decision to call for help.

"I thought that if a cop came to the house with a domestic violence case that someone had to go to jail. And I don't know if that's the case or not," she told the dispatcher.

"Well, I've got to send an officer. It's up to him what happens," the dispatcher told her.

The wife of Orange County Deputy Alan Brooks told operators her husband is a law enforcement officer. She said he picked her up and threw her down on their broken wedding picture, cutting her hand. She was calling from outside their home and sounded too scared to walk back in.

"Is he there now?" the dispatcher asked her.

"Yes, he's here. I just need to go back in and get clothes. And I'll leave," she told the dispatcher.

But throughout the conversation, the caller never identified herself as the daughter of the sheriff, a man she refers to simply as "dad."

"I need to call my dad," she told the dispatcher, sobbing.

That phone call lead to Deputy Brooks' arrest for domestic battery. Investigators also found marijuana, case evidence and police reports that hadn't been filed yet.

Brooks is now being investigated for that, along with the battery. He's free on bond.
