SHERIFF'S DEPUTY CHARGED WITH DOMESTIC BATTERY

[Excerpts] A Douglas County sheriff's deputy was arrested Sunday and has been charged in District Court with one count of misdemeanor domestic battery. Matthew Douglas, 35, pleaded not guilty to the charge during his first appearance and arraignment hearing Monday afternoon, court records said... Douglas was released from the jail on a $750 bond. He's scheduled to appear back in court at 9 a.m. Sept. 30 in front of Judge Peggy Kittel. Douglas has been ordered to have no contact with any victims or witnesses in the case, a spokeswoman for District Attorney Charles Branson said.
