A former Falmouth police officer, who resigned from the force last June, will not be prosecuted for domestic violence.
Mario Cunha resigned his position on the Falmouth police force shortly after being sworn in as an officer a day after a restraining order was issued against him on behalf of a former girlfriend.
Cape and Islands First assistant District Attorney Michael Trudeau said Thursday that state police officers attached to the DA’s office looked into the allegations and, “it has been determined that no criminal charges will be sought.”
What remains unclear is whether Cunha will seek reinstatement to the police force.
