A Burke County sheriff's deputy has been arrested for simple battery in Richmond County. Sgt. Gregg Stroud, of the 5000 block of Mike Padgett Highway, was picked up by Richmond County sheriff's deputies Wednesday, according to sheriff's Sgt. Calvin Chew. Sgt. Stroud is accused of pushing a woman to the ground on May 29, after an argument involving the woman, himself and his wife, Sgt. Chew said. Sgt. Stroud's wife and the victim had come to confront him about an affair when the discussion turned violent, Sgt. Chew said. [LINK]
