FEMALE HUB OFFICER SAYS COLLEAGUE RAPED HER

Globe Staff / October 1, 2009
[Excerpts] A Boston police officer has filed a restraining order against another officer in the department, alleging that he sexually assaulted her - possibly impregnating her - and then stalked her, according to court records... Both officers have been temporarily stripped of their guns and have been asked to stay away from the department during the investigation, but no one has been disciplined, according to the officials... In the complaint, she alleged that on Aug. 25 the officer “forcibly raped me and threatened my life, my husband’s life, and my job. He has continually threatened to kill my husband, has been physically violent with me, and has consistently put me in fear of my life and safety due to his threats and position" within the department... The [accused] officer is part of the department’s elite mobile operations unit, which includes sniper, dive, and SWAT teams... Boston police officers came to her apartment Thursday to remove her gun, according to the officials. As she handed them the weapon, the gun accidentally discharged, the officials said, but no one was injured. The restraining order is set to expire today. The affidavit attached to it is brief but explosive in what it alleges and intimates in its details. In the affidavit, the female officer said that after the assault, the officer continued to harass her. She wrote that he came to her home last Thursday and then again on Friday afternoon, right after the investigation into her allegations began. “As a result of the sexual assault that occurred, I fear that I’m carrying his child," she wrote. “He has threatened me to keep and bear the child"... BOSTON OFFICER TESTIFIES AT HEARING THAT COLLEAGUE RAPED HER

The Boston Globe

October 1, 2009 06:56 PM
A Boston police officer who has accused another officer of raping her, then stalking her, testified today that her alleged attacker squeezed her throat and threatened her life during the assault... In a soft voice, the petite woman told Judge David Weingarten that she fears the patrolman, a sniper in the department's SWAT team, because he had threatened to shoot her husband and "he has no qualms about killing people." The accused officer stood only 10 feet away, dressed in a gray pin-stripe suit, his arms folded in front of him... In the courtroom were at least half a dozen officers from the special operations division, an elite unit that includes the department's SWAT team and motorcycle squad. During the tense, 90-minute hearing, the female officer repeatedly was asked to speak up as she tried to describe what happened on Aug. 25, when she said she joined her alleged attacker and another officer for a trip to Farmington, Conn. for a shooting competition. After a night of heavy drinking, the three officers went back to their hotel, where they shared a room. It was there that the female officer said she was raped. "He grabbed my throat and squeezed really hard," she said. "I remember thinking I couldn't breathe"... The next day, she said, he demanded sex again and out of fear for her and her husband's life, she said she acquiesced. She said she was intimidated into having sex with him three more times during the next month... On Thursday, she said she was called in by the department's internal affairs division about the incident. "They came to her," her lawyer, John Swomley said, after the hearing. "She did not go to them"... The restraining order was extended to next Monday, when the hearing will be continued. [Full article here]

  1. The Rapist's name is Michael Spence or Mike Spence. Should have seen this coming a mile out.

  3. Michael Spence Boston Police a rapist? Yeah, right no one ever saw that one coming.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Michael J. Spence, no of course not. A grown man and police officer who parties with drug dealers and prostitutes at illegal after hours parties, a guy who only wears BDU pants and SWAT tee shirts all the time even when off duty, has over 20 high caliber pistols and assault weapons, a big SWAT sticker on his pickup truck, and a bad drinking problem. NO WAY! NOT HIM! IT COULDN'T BE! THAT"S NOT THE TYPE OF MAN WHO WOULD BE A RAPIST!

  5. Michael Spence Boston Police that's him alright. They can try to cover it up all they want hiding his face and his name but he's still out there and all potential victims should be aware!

  6. The "alleged" rapist Michael Spence can be seen in this youtube video 46 seconds in. You can also see his partner (the one who was passed out drunk on the floor on the floor during the first two rapes that first night). 46 seconds in: Spence is on the far left and Harewood is on the far right. WARNING women steer clear of these two especially the one on the left! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=733zYVBqeow

  7. Does anyone know if this guy is still out there keeping our city safe?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Does anyone know if this guy was ever punished? Is he still out there?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Yup still out there but he's not a spec. ops. sniper anymore. The BPD sent him out to the rehab range or retirement range or firing range whatever you want to call it. It's an island you have to take a bridge to right the middle of the harbor, one island before that island that the movie "Shutter Island" was about.

You'd think it's safer for the public that way but this makes him a shooting instructor now with a lot of time on his hands and not much supervising over him and I'm hearing there's a new academy class of all girls or mostly all girls about to come his way.

Plus the stalking, rape and threats there are more crimes that they've been brooming under the rug for him and a whole lot of new stuff that's going around about him, scary stuff if even some of it is true. He's got some bigtime juice that's for sure, he's very protected from high up but a lot of guys, a lot of good cops are getting sick of it.

    ReplyDelete
  10. It will take public protest or your media...

    ReplyDelete
  11. If it becomes a political problem for the Mayor of Boston he'll be finished. The "good cops" need to say they've had enough. Guys like this only exist because they are enabled.

  12. Not to be negative but Spence was married and HE filed for divorce. If he was such a bad guy don't you think his wife would have filed? Why would his wife have put up with all of his bad behavior. Just playing devil's advocate.

    ReplyDelete
  13. It's not a game to play and you obviously know nothing about marriage, domestic violence, or divorce.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'm not trying to be negative either but are you talking about the first time divorce was filed or the second time divorce was filed, 3 or 4 years later? Because there's a whole lot more to that story isn't there?

    ReplyDelete
  15. It couldn't have been too blissful a marriage for it to be that short lived with a couple or more attempts at divorce. I'm just sayin'. I call bs on him filing on divorce from her.

    ReplyDelete
  16. She left him! There is no reason to bring her up on this! She has nothing to do with what happened with him and that other woman. Stop using her with your efforts to make him look better. Their marriage and their divorce has nothing to do with this. These things happened like a year ago already! Just forget about it! This website is too damn nosy. Their marriage and their divorce is nobody's business but theirs. You should mind your own business!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yes and it's sad. Mr. devil's advocate up there is all about fun and games. Being somebody's husband at some point doesn't make him any better of a man or a better cop. If he was the one who filed for divorce, that doesn't make him any better either but from everything I've heard about, it's total bs and I bet Mr. devil's advocate knows that. People like him make it that much harder to do this job. He's not a cop. He's an animal.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Not trying to play a game. I guess it was a bad way to ask the question..can this guy be so evil and such an animal? Why wouldn't the attorney general or the mayor or internal affairs or the press do something? What else has this guy done that would show this is a pattern? Did not mean offense to anyone.

    ReplyDelete
  19. (Maybe it's a teen or ____ looking for the truth.)

Cops don't always get reported, arrested, and/or charged for what they do... for many reasons. Even if they get charged they often get a deal to have it erased from their record, in order to save their careers. Often their alleged victims are AFRAID to report, or try, but no action is taken.

It's kind of like a scary movie.

There ARE professional law enforcement agencies and officers who will take appropriate action. I THINK there are just courts. (?) But too often BAD officers can even get away with murder, and joke about it later.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Bringing up his marriage-divorce but not the truth about it to make him look better. I highly doubt it's a teen playing devils advocate. Spence always had sick sense of humor.

    ReplyDelete
  21. His wife left him? I wonder why?

    ReplyDelete
  22. What else has this guy done that would show this is a pattern? A few domestic incidents with his ex in South Boston and Dorchster and I'm pretty sure Haverhill come to mind. Persons do remember them. He's gotten himself into trouble a handful of times since all of this. Rumor has it he got immunity. Whatever it is he must be running a high tab by now. He might have gone too far already and now they own it. This department has a history of treating females badly and trying to coverup for guys that don't belong on the job. A lieutenant that punches his wife off a barstool in front of God and everyone, he gets a 5 days suspension and a guy that takes a wizz in a female officer's bottle then puts it back on her desk, he gets six months. Covering up for him is only going to come back to bite them. He can only be protected for so long before all his little crimes and his big ones start coming to the surface. It doesn't matter if he is out on moon island.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Now This fits on an "officer involved domestic violence site now doesn't it"? I'm not surprised at all. Hey buddy, If he's not "so evil" and not "such an animal" then why don't you go and request to friend him on facebook. You can be his 20th friend overall and if you're a cop you can be his 2nd cop friend. I'm sure you got plenty of time to be big number 20. Don't be shy, he's obviously not. Who the hell uses a half naked picture of themselves on facebook page? Strike that one, it's kind of obvious. He actually has the cojones to use a half naked picture of himself in nothing but camoflage cargo shorts and a John Deere cap for his facebook icon. But funny how he keeps his face in the shadows. A Look at that gave me the heebie jeebies but oh what the hell I'll share and make it easy so you don't have to search too hard.

  24. Guess this guy has been protected for a long time. If domestic violence didn't catch up with him in Boston you would think it would have bitten him in Haverhill. Sounds like Spence would be a good subject for one of those Globe Spotlight articles. Seems like only the press might have the incentive to investigate.

    ReplyDelete
  25. He's got some juice in Boston to get away with the domestics. How did he work it in Haverhill? Are you saying he was abusive to the wife? If that is the case his latest actions should scream to the powers that be. Whatever happened to the female officer that made the claim? This page has all been about him but let's not forget her. Has her career been destroyed? Hope not.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Boston or Haverhill, it's no matter. It don't matter if it was all the way down in South Carolina or Timbuktu. You've never heard of extending courtesy to people on the job from other cities or states?

  27. I know this man and he's a liar! He lied to the town of Bourne! He's not just a Police Officer. He's also Subdivision Developer and Land Owner with acres and acres of waterfront land that he's taken such poor care of. Michael Spence is the developer of Canal View Estates. The Bourne Currier newspaper had to call it the "Problem-plagued Canal View Estates subdivision off Sandwich Road built by his late father". Property values in the area have been suffered immensely. He cries poor mouth to the town whenever he says he can't fix the mess that it is and he lies again and again. More lies. He said around this time last year, in the end of September that he couldn't make our town meeting because he's a Boston police officer and had work with his swat team. His lie, the excuse is recorded. The town meeting minutes are logged stored online. I just read these articles right now. It said he was taken out of work right before our town meeting. What a liar! He was told to stay away from his police department and at the time being investigated for rape when he told our town he couldn't make it because he had swat work. What a liar. I can't believe this. Looks like he's worse than I thought

    ReplyDelete
  28. Canal View Estates? This is interesting but him lying isn't a surprise. What is every parcel of that land up for sale 2/3 of the value, who puts up that much real estate for sale in a bad economy and waterfront at that? Is he piling up acorns? Getting ready to make a run for it? Or does he have some huge debts he has to settle up all of a sudden? One thing's for sure. This Michael Spence is looking for some fast cash and a lot of it. What has he done this time? Settling up some debts or favors?

    ReplyDelete
  29. I assume this is the article you were talking about? That is interesting.

  30. Of course he was abusive to his wife, why do you think she left him? Don't act like it's a suprise. He is a dispicable man. She is no angel but he was despicable to her. He was abusive to her in extremes, controling, manipulating and abusive. She has a close family relative who is a Haverhill policeman. She could have just been not wanting the embarassment. It's a miracle she got the courage to leave him, I just wonder how he finally gave her the divorce. It could be because if she promised not to bring up the issues they had but so what she is rid of him now and she deserves much better than him now more than ever in her middle age years. Those should be the best years. I feel for this officer, I do but it's not like she had to live with him or anything like that. She should be glad that it wasn't worse and old domestic issues have nothing to do with rape accusations anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Sorry, I just found the Nov 14 comment in my inbox.

    ReplyDelete
  32. You're right. His ex-wife and domestic violence issues from the past have nothing to do with this situation. To say she is no angel isn't fair. She would have to be an angel to have put up with him. I don't know her personally but I have heard she is a very nice person from a nice family. She has suffered enough I am sure.
Does anyone know about the female officer? Is she still on the force or was her career ruined?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oh brother. His domestic violence issues with his ex-wife could have everything to do with this. If he's violent in his romantic relationships or whatever you want to call them and he has a history of lying and having friends cover for him in addition to threatening women to be silent then acquaintance rape is just one step away. It's not much of a stretch at all. Have you heard of a thing called criminal career escalation and specialization or criminal behavior escalating? Something like 1 out every 4 women have been raped by an intimate partner. There's a connection there, alright. You don't need to be in the criminal justice field to see it. It's intuitive. There are accounts of him abusing his ex-wife right here and out there too. You say you don't know her personally but then how do you know for that other person that posted to say "she is no angel" isn't fair? Id say it's pretty obvious you know her more personally than you're letting on and if she's suffered enough according to you then it must have been pretty bad how he was to her the way you're talking about his past domestic violence issues with her. There are more than a few differing accounts of him with his ex-wife but all have him abusing her and it looks like it was pretty serious. That's the one common thread that looks undeniable. If he can be that abusive to his wife how abusive could he be to a female he works with that he hardly knows? If he had that much contempt for his vows to his wife to abuse her like that then it's not a stretch to disrespect his oath to the city and his family in law enforcement must not mean much at all to him either after what he's done.

  34. You cut and paste that Facebook link and what do you find? It's not super secret information or anything. He obviously leaves his friends list open for the public to see. You don't need to be on the dept. to see if they're employed by the dept. You just go to the BostonHerald.com, half way down the page to the infamous Your tax dollars at work tab. There is every single dept. employee listed and of course what everyone makes too. There isn't a single male cop on his friends list! In 6 months or more that he's got Facebook, since at least mid June or earlier, not one guy on the job with Boston has friended him! You click on his picture it says added in July. You click on the other picture and it says added in June. It makes me ashamed to see that Marine Corps tattoo. It should be removed with a blowtorch like they did in The Sons of Anarchy. Once a Marine, always a Marine, except when you go pull what he did. What the hell does that tell you? I know what it tells me. Just about every police officer that I know who uses Facebook has a couple hundred to even a couple thousand friends. You meet a lot of people on this job but there are no male officers from Boston on his friend list. How is that? You have accusations of rape by a female officer and throw in a restraining order (that's another thing. The media made it look like she went to get the restraining order when it was the dept. that ordered her to do it but we know you can't trust the media) and that's practically a call to arms to back him and defend him, but nope. Doesn't happen. Why? What does that tell you? Everybody knows he's committed the crimes. It doesn't matter who's covering up for him. Why does he not have one friend who's a cop on there after 6 months? Why? We all know he's guilty of that and more. That's why.

  35. I was not saying she is no angel to say she is a bad person. She was a very sweet one. I was just saying she isn't perfect herself but he was the one who was lousy to her. He was the one who was terrible to her. She was so scared of him and she wanted that divorce so very much for years., I only hope she didn't sell her soul to get it. To get back into bed with that terrible man even to get the divorce. His finally allowing her the divorce at that time is such very odd, strange timing and then the way someone on here raises their marriage to make him look like a good man when it is really the opposite. I hope she didn't sell her soul to finally be rid of him. She was such a good soul but sometimes you just have to do what you can to protect yourself first.

    ReplyDelete
  36. He deleted out the comments on his wall and changed his personal info on facebook. He must've been trying to get rid of this evidence of him lying again. Big surprise. You have his friends on his wall asking him why he's lying. I removed the names of his friends because who knows they might have no idea what they're friends with. Funny how he had this up for all the world to see. It would be pitiful if it wasn't known what else he lied about:

"Happy Birthday dude !!!! July 7 at 11:11am · See Friendship"

"I figured you would of changed the year!!! :) Welcome to facebook. June 26 at 12:29pm"

"Since when is your B-day on July 7th???? June 26 at 12:26pm"

He deleted his wall a little too late. Another one of his lies has already been seen and it's getting around. I guess with the big picture what's lying about your date of birth? It's another pattern of lying. Can this guy not stop lying or what, I mean how many lies can he tell and get caught in, even ones recorded in print and online before it's so obvious he has no credibility at all.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Why on earth would wold a man lie about his day of birth on the facebook if he can keep it completly private, make it so only friends can see it, make it so only friends of friends can see it or what have you? I know facebook settings work that way. Michael spence once a liar always a liar.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Boston Police Academy is starting a new class today. I say a prayer to the big Holy Spirit in the sky for those young female recruits to be wary at that range, use caution when they go there, use caution when they leave and beware of Spence.

    ReplyDelete
  39. What? What are they thinking, that man to be an teacher of anything is is baffling. How a police department can put him in charge of young girls is beyond me and they must've know the common knowledge that he abused his wife. She couldn't've been the only one. How could they not know before this rape stuff. They should have known he was dangerous to women a long long ago. I don't know how they could trust him with a policman's badge and guns. I hope those poor girls are safe from him!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I truely hope those new cadets will be safe especially the girls.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Probably there for a few reasons, he's a habitual liar. Somebody did a cut and paste about the date of birth lie on facebook. To answer the question about it of why would he lie about the date of his birth on facebook, who lies about their ages like that all the time? Criminals so you can't look them up as fast, can't run a check on them. He's a criminal, they do that. And you lie right out there like that, well that's a man who wants to get caught. Back, to why he's probably at the range. It's probably liability. They know he's a liar now. Hell, you got hard indisputable proof of it right here. He's not just a liar he lies like a criminal. They know he's not credible now. They have to put him in a place where there won't be a need for him to testify. With this much lying and getting sloppy doing it online he's probably testilied before. What happens when you found you've got a cop who's been on for a long time and now you know he's a liar? You know any of those cases he tesilied, the lawyers can file to have their clients exonerated. That's one reason the dept. might be protecting him. The range is a place where he won't be driving either with the mess of accidents he's gotten into. Boston probably can't afford to hold him on their insurance anymore. You've got a police officer, a SWAT guy getting into accidents all over the city. He's probably crashing into his guilty conscience. He's not driving at the range. Then there's the problem of him interacting with the public. If he can do this to a another officer then he can do it to any woman he pulls over. He's a big tub of law suits waiting to happen. The thing I can't figure is how a man who if the rumors are true has committed gun crimes plus accused of rape with violence, making threats to commit murder with his firearm ends up getting a job as a firearms range instructor with a whole cache of weapons and ammunition at his disposal. It's par for the course but is that ironic or what?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Spence must be reading your blog. Right after that post about his Facebook page. He picked up a few new friends. Four are actually cops, all k-9 or former k-9. He could've been begging for them to add him after seeing this so he could have some cop friends. They might have friended him as long as they can keep him on a leash or do they think they can tame him and keep him from forcibly humping some one before that dirty dog ends up in a 7x10 cage.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Was he drinking when he got into those accidents? He was very hard drinker. I saw him get behind the wheel many times after he was drinking. It breaks your heart when you see a policeman drunk driving. You wonder what the world is coming to. He would get vicious when he was drinking. He would turn into such an ugly drunk, so mean. Mike spence was a drinker and a fiend. I wonder if he still drinks so much. I think the drinking made him much more abusive and it could have made him do bad things like these too. It's a sickness.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Whoops. Accidentally published the rude comment about a family member but deleted it immediately. That really really isn't necessary.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Don't blame it on the bottle. There is no excuse for him pulling shenanigans like he did. Plenty of guys go to the bars for a little choir practice and never have one thought in their heads of doing anything like him. It's gutless doing those kinds of things to a female and a female officer at that, a good one too. It makes me sick.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Does anyone know if the victim of the crime is still on th Boston Police Dept? This issue happened a while ago? Are there any lawsuits in process or were people paid off for the sake of a quick settlement to keep things quiet? How come the victim doesn't go to the newspapers, TV stations, or go public for this travesty? This Dateline NBC or 60 Minutes material if it's true.

    ReplyDelete
  47. You work for the B.P.D. you can't go to the newspapers or T.V. stations if you want to keep your job, it's a fireable offense. There aren't the same rights as civilians. There are no rights. She's still here, looks alright, sticking it out. If he could keep her quiet for a month can you imagine what a city Boston's size with all it has at it's arsenal can do to keep her quiet? The rape didn't end with him. The institutional kind they've run her through in the last year or so is unbelievable! I can't believe she's still standing after all they've done to her. To see her around, to hold up under this it's amazing! They tried to pay her off with big money but she didn't bite and good for her! She should be back on MOP and they know it. That kid was working her but off to get there since the academy. How many women can ride, shoot that good and she's that smart to boot. She would have been the second female in B.P.D. history on S.W.A.T. if they hadn't pulled her out of there for no good reason. Now there are no females there. Go figure! Maybe that was the plan all along. Dateline NBC or 60 Minutes got a hold of what went on and what is going on, it's only the tiniest tip of the iceberg the stuff you see here and what was in the news and keep in mind, she never spoke to the media, it's a fireable offense so we're not allowed to. She's one of those by the book types. Also keep in mind that restraining order hearing only covered the first incident in detail. I've heard what he did to her after was much more brutal, ruthless and perverse. It's come out since, there was a retraining order that the B.P.D. had her get that was granted at the station by a judge on the phone and then they tried to vacate and cover it up a few days later before she ever got to the courthouse and by the time the domestic detectives got her there it expired 15 minutes before then it looked like she was going to get one all on her own when she was just going to extend the one the B.P.D. had her get. The investigation or cover up started before the restraining order when in the papers they made it look like it was after. Another thing I heard is there's proof the press was wrong about how the B.P.D. found out about it. She went to her BPPA rep. that went to a union lawyer like a week before the r.o. hearings. Lot of interesting happenings up here but who would have known he's a land millionaire and developer? With all the pay to play in the probation department and court officers that have been hitting the news, I wouldn't be shocked if he has some payoffs promised out. It doesn't surprise me has no friends from S.W.A.T. or MOP at all on facebook or anywhere. I bet they'd take her back in a Boston minute faster than they'd ever want him back. Where he has the connections to pull this off, must go way up high. But the Craziest thing I've heard lately is she's got a list, one atom bomb of a list that she came in possession of, must be one hell of an insurance policy. One hell of a list that I would love to get a look at! I know that list would rock the city or B.P.D. to it's knees. Screw being fired, she should take it to the press. Could bring her some wrath but it'd be worth it. I'm guessing you can only jab a pittbull with a stick for so long before she gnashes her teeth. I hope she drops that list on them. That happens and I'm taking the day off to see it all unfold. She should take that Ace out of her sleeve and play it! I want to see that in print. If you get my drift I hear it's a list that's like a factory going Boom Boom when you read the names.

  48. What a nightmare all that was/is for her. She must live in constant fear. Police officers are supposed to serve and protect not hurt and I thought they're supposed to look out for each other. Maybe it's just the guys for the guys.

    ReplyDelete
  49. That's a great idea. 60 Minutes or Dateline NBC should pick this up if not then 48 Hours Mystery or 20/20.

  50. Anybody know what happened to the first female SWAT? It doesn't look like she was there very long either. Is there a pattern?

    ReplyDelete
  51. She got pushed out of MOP and SWAT too. Another one in the department has been exposed for being the rapist that he is, no other than Lt. Detective Trent Holland. The Mayor owns the papers so no surprise, it's only in one saying "Boston detective retires amid investigation." What is that? Amid investigation? Everybody in the department knows it was rape. Typical. Let him retire quietly and keep his pension. Get the paper to keep it nice and vague. Don't mention the r word. Get him Drechsler to represent him and quietly send him on his way. 30 years he was on, think about all the damage that man has done. I guess that's what you got to look forward to from Spence for the next 20 years.

  52. Geez. How many cops working for Boston is that investigated of sexual assault in the past 2 years? Does The Boston Police Department keep records of the officers who are accused of sexual assault and the officers who are investigated for sexual assault? The civilian review board that was set up a few years ago what happened to it?

    ReplyDelete
  53. That's a good idea. I hope she reads this. That gives her an idea if it's still around. Was it just investigated by their criminal investigators or did Internal Affairs do an investigation too? And if they did nothing then there's the civilian review board if it's still around. My guess, civilians get a look at everything then Spence and friends should loose some badges and badges they don't need no stinkin badges!

  54. What I want to know is why the BPPA paid for a lawyer for his restraining order hearing? Since when do they start paying for lawyers for that? Who gets a union provided lawyer for domestics now? How does Spence get Tom Drechsler for the restraining order hearing, paid for by the BPPA and she got no one?

  55. Who knows what was going on in the deputy's office at mop base over at special ops making him take Spence's gun? Is there any truth to Spence starting to confess and then about to eat his own gun before the deputy had it taken away? If he's a danger to him self and a danger to others he shouldn't be at the range with that kind of weaponry and around new recruits.

  57. I want to know if it's true. I couldn't want him near my son or daughter as an instructor if he poses as risk to them. Letting him back to work supervised or whatever accused of sexual assault is one thing. If he's already tried to harm himself it's a whole other story and if that happened when he was confessing or about to confess or whatever then those recruits deserve to know. Their parents deserve to know!

  58. I heard the same damn thing. How are you going to have someone who could be suicidal and a rapist and threatened to murder people with a bullet now at a gun range, and who's bright idea was that to assign him there anyways?Don't forget the range isn't just for police officers, civilians go there to get licensed to carry.Someone is either playing a screwed up game of Russian Roulette having him over there or they're hoping he'll off himself with more opportunity. It's strange, not by Boston PD standards but still really strange.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Is he assigned to the range or going to the range?

  60. Assigned there. Messed up ain't it? Hand to God. I bet they assign him to the sexual assault unit or internal affairs next. The BPD's world famous shenanigans. Part circus. Part mafia. Biggest gang in town.

  61. The department is an amazing place and speaking of God, how she hold up the way she's does after all he did and after they do what they do to her, I don't know how she with stands the way she does. That has got to be one of the strongest women I've ever seen and one of the strongest cops I've ever known. I've seen this place tear women apart before but she's still upright. I can't get over it. Lousy what they've done to her but she's an inspiration. God bless that young officer. Does anyone know if he's gotten into trouble at the range yet? I heard he upset some people over there but nothing serious yet or are they keeping more quieted for him? God willing he hasn't victimized anyone else yet but with sex offenders the rate of recidivism is too high. It stands the hair up on the back of my neck thinking about it. That man has always been a ticking time bomb. He should have been removed ages ago. He'll do it again or he has already and they'll let him quietly retire like the other one a couple weeks ago. I can't believe this still goes on. It's 2011.

  65. Big story in the Boston Globe today about women's rise in the department. Says there are now 275 women in the dept. Why aren't those 275 women standing up for the officer who was allegedly attacked by Spence? If 275 Boston police officers acted together this problem would have been dealt with already. Why are they remaining silent?

    ReplyDelete
  66. Good question. Do they rise because they are competent women or because they are also the brotherhood? Hmm.

    ReplyDelete
  67. 275 out of more than 2,000. Big freaking deal. You see any women captains running any 1 of the 12 districts? Nope. How many female lieutenants? 0. None, nadda, zippo. Most females work inside. You know how many are on the streets? I don't because I never see any because almost all are inside. When they find one that can shoot and ride and doesn't care about catering to the old boys club then they try and break her. One part of your question lies in the first S.W.A.T. female. Why did she leave and what kinda deal did she make to keep her quiet? The one Spence allegedly attacked was one of the most outspoken females you ever seen. She barely joined the PD and she was already active for women taking leadership roles here and there but she didn't give a damn about any brotherhood. They don't like that. She had the power brokers scared and she stuck her neck out too many times. They knew they had to break her fast and hard. They saw her as a threat to the system. You got any idea what they have done to silence her since this started? Look at the other new article about Lt. Joseph Gillespie. You speak up and rock the boat they don't like that. Imagine if you expose a Spence for crimes like that. That's a good old boy of good old boys with some of the biggest good old boys looking out for him. I hope she brings it all down. If Joe Gillespie can't then I hope she can. Things need to change around here.

Is this why they remain silent? Boston police brass have waged a yearlong campaign of intimidation and retaliation against a veteran officer for exposing alleged corruption within the Internal Affairs Division to the FBI, according to a whistleblower suit being filed today in Suffolk Superior Court.

    http://news.bostonherald.com/news/regional/view.bg?articleid=1018204

In an 86 page rebuke to the department, arbitrator Craig E. Overton concluded Sergeant Jacqueline Creaven should not have been given a six-month suspension without pay, or placed on administrative leave for a year as a result of an Internal Affairs Division investigation into paid details.

Creaven was punished in 2007 following an internal investigation that concluded she had improperly filled out paid detail records, dealt directly with contractors seeking paid details in violation of department rules, and scheduled details while she was working a regular shift.

But Overton said none of the 119 charges had any substance, and he dismissed them all.

Can't believe my ears. She really did what I heard she did, what everone's been taking about. You know when everyone is talking at the Bruins parade about it, you know it's sometyhing special but I didn't believe it. She got guts. That is the gutsiest female I ever known. I can't believe it. I'm amazed. She's my idol. All I can say is she's my idol. Better hope she never applies to anticorruption. She'll clean house. And I don't mean that to be chauvinist. I mean it. She'd clean it all up. All I can say is I'm amazed. Mark my words. That kid will be commissioner one day. Mark my words on that.

I knew about the number 3 Dale Earnhardt plate he put out on the front of his truck and aren't novelty plates like that illegal in Massachusetts? Massachusetts General Law says you need a Mass plate on front and back with no novelty plates. How does he get away with driving like that every day? He's a police officer. He should know better. But from the way it looks he's done a lot worse. #3 and 666. He must have a hard time deciding if he wants to be known as the Intimidator or Satan. What's all this other big surf happening? 78. Okay folks, this incident happened more than 2 ½ years ago. We have not heard a peep from the media since then. The BPD was supposed to release a statement to the media when this first happened? Whatever happened to the campaign on this message board that was supposed to go forward to the local papers, local media, and then on to the national media and then all hell was supposed to break loose? Where are the letters to the editor? Can we please demand the details of the Internal Affairs investigation? Has everyone been too busy? Hello….there is nothing here. Period. Just two police officers caught doing things they we not supposed to be doing so they both lie under oath to get out of uncomfortable situation. Just because one of them speaks more than one language and has more than one online college degree does not make her god’s gift to law enforcement. Far from it. Just another example of police lying before a judge and destroying the public trust. This message board has been very therapeutic to the husband of the alleged victim since they have been told they can’t get a multimillion dollar settlement form the city of Boston since their case is as weak as a wet noodle. He may actually have to work for his income. Who else would display this much anger on the message board? If you really care or believe in this fable please write letters to the editors of the Globe & Herald and call the TV stations and demand an open investigation so that the alledged victim can get public justice and we can at least get a two sided story.

    2. Only from the bits and pieces I do know, I know the above comment on March 10 is wrong in many ways. One: What you posted about her having online degrees is not true and I know this because I've seen her on campus, I saw her on campus for class a few nights ago, where she is in our Ph.D. Program, that is not an online program and she had to have gotten a master's as part of her Ph.D. and is teaching. Two: I have seen her resume, the other college she has a master’s degree from does not grant online degrees and it is a top 20 school, I know that because I applied there and did not get in. I also know she got her bachelors in business is from the Number 1 entrepreneurial program in the country and they do not give online degrees either, so you are wrong or lying and you probably lied about everything else you posted on March 10. You said who else would display this much anger on the message board but her husband. I imagine her whole family and friends are very angry at what happened to her. I am not her husband and I am not even a man but when I read this, I find it upsetting what you are doing and what happened to her is heartbreaking. You obviously have some anger issues about her. What you posted is wrong and you are not hiding the fact you are a cop very well. Persons like you are the ones who betray the public trust with your gossipy statements. You must have some axe to grind with her. I type this wondering if you are Mr. Spence and you're just mad at the fact that she is still holding her head high and making something of herself after what he did to her. Something tells me she is a very strong woman and as far as I can find out, she went on the stand at least four times but Spence never did. No one I know has ever said anything about Spence going under oath but you said he did. Everyone I knows says he was too scared to go on the stand. You said she lied under oath but you don't offer any proof, probably because you're just spreading rumors, trying to assassinate the character of a good woman. I will tell you I believe her. She strikes me as a very straightforward, honest person and your post shows you are not. I would believe her more than a man who drives with a "666" license plate and calls himself "Double D?" I cringe to think what kind of police department would hire a man like that and then put him on the swat team and make him a sniper.

You're right, the last post was good and the original post was way out of bounds, no doubt done for a reason because it was posted a couple of days after the city and the department rested their side of the case in the grievance the union filed on her behalf, maybe with hopes that the arbitrator would see it when she's deliberating. I hope that arbitrator comes back with a decision that brings some justice because God knows she deserves it and I've never in all my years seen a grievance go on that long and heard of one being that nasty. It goes to show you what will be done to protect friends of the entrenched god ole boys.

I think your blog is a good thing. I had misgivings and first I thought it was just another cop hating site but it is a good thing you're doing.

She's a good person and it's not right what's been done to her or what they keep doing to her. I know and a lot of other people know what the original poster said about "they have been told they can’t get a multimillion dollar settlement form the city of Boston" is an out right lie because everyone knows she would take no money for going back to Special Ops and getting the shot at SWAT she deserves. She earned it. And it's no secret they keep offering her big money to go away but she doesn't take it. She would have been the second woman ever on swat for the department and I'd bet the best shot on there but instead they put her at desk for coming forward. There's nothing worse to do to a female working cop than to put her at a desk especially somebody like her. That's the worst thing you can do to any working cop, not just females and she's a worker, a hard worker. She has been denied justice and it's a shame. Like others trying to smear her, he or she is full of it.

It's no secret either that Spence is dirty. No secret again that other officers involved in this are dirty. It's all about keeping good ole boys covered up for and their friends and friends of friends. Those type of people don't care how much other people get hurt. They have no heart. In places like Boston, it's all about CYA [cover your ass] and your friends and your friends' friends, no matter how dirty they are. Someday things have got to change. Ones on this job, Spence or any others like him shouldn't be backed up for. It goes too far and attacking victims like her especially good cops like her, it goes too far. It goes too far when it hurts innocent people and protects blue against blue criminals. You don't back up a guy you know is dirty when he hurts good people.

Sometimes I really wish she would go public, I know she's thinking about it and I think she's waited long enough because now is a perfect time. I know that's a hard decision but I hope she realizes going public might just give this department the purging it needs. If anyone can bring change, she can.

The thing that kills me about all this is not Spence because we all know there will be people that will slip through the cracks and be dirty like he is, it's the knowing the kinds of cowards who let him do what he does and then turn and go after the victim. Too many rapists over the years have been protected but this has gone too far.

      Rant over.

p.s. I think you should keep this going. If no one in the department does anything about Spence and his buddies the good ole boys and we have to put up with them at least people like you put it out so the public can be aware so he doesn't do a lot worse to civilians and give law enforcement a worse name.

Here are some interesting posts with lots of good info I found on a gun forum from earlier this month with a quote from Chief Linskey where he refers to Spence as her attacker as if he accepts it as fact. Check it out.

    http://www.northeastshooters.com/vbulletin/threads/79233-BPD-female-officer-accuses-colleague-of-Rape-amp-Accidental-discharge-of-weapon/page5

{The firearm that discharged was not a Glock. "As she handed them the weapon," it did not discharge. The firearm was an AR- style Colt LE6920 COLT LAW ENFORCEMENT CARBINE, which had an accidental discharge as it was being unloaded.

As for why both officers' firearms were taken, the male officer was already under criminal investigation, therefore his firearms should have been taken prior to the emergency RO (notice Boston Police Spokesperson, Elaine Driscoll quoted as stating, “I cannot confirm or deny the existence of an investigation"). Although, the reason given behind the taking of her firearms apparently was a preventative measure in order to inhibit possible retaliation against "her attacker."

A quote from a hearing transcript by the chief of the department, Boston Police Superintendent-in-Chief Daniel Linskey should shed some light.

"...wanted to make sure that Officer X didn't retaliate against her attacker…"

The victim was ordered or for all intents and purposes, she was given orders to get the restraining order against the suspect by superiors after the investigation had begun, having already given her official statement to investigators. An emergency RO was subsequently granted by an on-call judge about a half-week prior to the time period, which is referenced in the initial article in The Boston Globe.

Don't believe everything you read or see on television, especially when unnamed “law enforcement officials with knowledge of the case” are referenced as sources.

This being a firearms forum, I can tell you a couple more things.

The first firearm that was to be taken was the suspect's SIG SAUER 1911 duty weapon, which was taken by the Commander of Special Operations, Deputy Superintendent Thomas Lee, when he became concerned the suspect would harm himself. This was more than a day before any type of restraining order was filled out and about a day before she ever even gave her official statement to detectives. Deputy Superintendent Thomas Lee is now Captain Thomas Lee.

Two officers' firearms were taken on the same day, both duty & personal. The report for one officer's 3 personal firearms was written and filed the same day, while the report for the removal of the other officer's more than 20 wasn't filed until almost two weeks later (and it was missing the two duffel bags of ammunition). All of his more than 20 taken firearms together were returned to him with the exception of 1. After his other firearms were returned to him, that one firearm was kept for nearly 10 months, before being logged as "disposed" but somehow it resurrected itself and returned to his possession after it was "disposed."

    As I said, I won't identify who is/who is not a rape victim or specifics of those types of cases because that can bring on a lot of bad legal juju and DNA tests, etc. get a little too close, but if the victim or someone else with knowledge of the case ever goes public, I'm certain those are questions, which will bring up some facts, circumstances and procedures that would blow your mind.}

  80. This is big! The victim took a lie detector and she passed it! The accused refused to take one when Connecticut detectives tried to get him to take one and they went for a warrant on his arrest. His buddies in high places must have stopped them. She took her lie detector from a retired commander of Massachusetts State's Police Internal Affairs. I know a a few people on Boston Police's command staff that she sent the results to. There's so much more I have been told about all this but it would take up too much space. She's a fighter. I can't wait for the trials to start in Massachusetts and Connecticut. You don't have it on here yet but the Boston Globe newspaper ran an article a few weeks ago about her filing the law suits. Good luck to her!
