[Excerpts] The ex-boyfriend of a Humboldt police officer fired in May after she was accused of filing a false police report says he may be the father of her child. Robert Kendall filed a petition in Gibson County Juvenile Court on Friday asking for DNA testing of Melody Pierce Stewart's infant... Stewart, who was a Humboldt police officer at the time, told Milan police she shot Kendall on Nov. 29 after he broke a window at her home and got into a scuffle with another officer. She was not charged in the shooting. The other Humboldt officer involved in the incident was Hunter Stewart, to whom Melody Stewart is now married. Kendall was charged with criminal trespassing, assault and two counts of vandalism in the incident. He later entered a best interest plea to a charge of simple assault and one count of vandalism. Melody Stewart was fired in May after the Humboldt Board of Aldermen determined that she swore out a warrant against Kendall in a separate incident using false information. Police said her actions violated department and city policies. In August, Melody Stewart filed a lawsuit against the city of Humboldt that accuses officials of not following up on her complaints about sexual harassment. The suit also claims that the officer's pregnancy played a role in her firing. Melody Stewart gave birth to a son in August. According to Kendall's petition, he and Melody Stewart were "dating and having a sexual relationship during the time that would be necessary for conception of the minor child." Kendall asks that DNA testing be done on the child. If he is the father, Kendall also asks for primary custody of the child with standard visitation for Stewart. Because of the injuries he suffered in the shooting, Kendall may not be able to have children, and "this may in fact be his only child," the petition says... [Excerpts] A former Humboldt police officer has filed a lawsuit against the city claiming city officials didn't follow up on her complaints about sexual harassment. The suit also claims that the officer's pregnancy played a role in her firing. The federal lawsuit filed Thursday by Melody Stewart, formerly Melody Pierce, said she was fired by the city after facing ongoing sexual harassment from other officers and from another person outside of work... The lawsuit says that the city didn't follow procedures by not properly investigating Pierce's complaints. It states that the city treated her claims about sexual harassment as a "laughing matter" and knew that harassment affected her job. Humboldt city officials could not immediately be reached for comment. [Google's cache copy of original.]

Comment Excerpt:

...First he was not her "boyfriend" and never was. He was a creepy stalker and she could not get away from him. That is documented in many places. Second she did not "get away" with a shooting of him. The stalker broke in her house and tried to attack another officer. That is why no charges were filed against her, but he was convicted... This lady has done everything she can do to seek help...

  5. TBI Probing Injuries To Former Officer's Baby

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) - The TBI is looking into the injuries of a former Humboldt police officer's infant son.

The Jackson Sun reported TBI special agent John Mehr said a 2-month-old boy was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville on Sunday. The child is the son of Melody Pierce Stewart, who was fired from the Humboldt police force in May, and her husband Hunter Stewart.

Mehr said the investigation is into the child's injuries and declined to say whether the couple is under investigation. An attorney for the Stewarts said they are cooperating with Department of Children's Services investigators.

Melody was not charged after she shot her estranged boyfriend Robert Kendall in November 2008. She was fired six months later after Humboldt officials determined she supplied false information in swearing out a warrant against Kendall.

In May 2010 Hunter Stewart was found guilty of severe child abuse in juvenille court in Huntington, Tn with Judge Larry Logan. Melody was given full custody to child while Hunter lost his rights. Hunter Stewart broke the childs leg, ribs, had two brain hemorrages, and hemorraging behind his eyes. Hunter Stewart is still a police officer in Humboldt, Tn protecting and serving its inoccent citizens, Chief Raymond Simmons is aware of the judges findings. Why is Hunter Stewart still walking free? Melody's family has tried to get justice for the child and no one not even the DA will help everyone just wants her to go away. It's not fair, why did the media slam her but is not printing the findings of the abuse? I think the media should tell of her innocence and make things right. Someone needs to stand up for her and help her fight this battle she's facing alone.
