[NM] Officer Davis charged with wife battery, criminal damage, & interference with her being able to call for help

[Excerpts] Patrolman allegedly assaulted wife, smashed her cell phone last week. Carlsbad Police Officer David G. Davis, 30, has been charged with assaulting his wife, then forcibly taking her cell phone and smashing it so she couldn't call for help last Wednesday... Davis is charged with battery against a household member, criminal damage to the property of a household member and interference with communication... There was no word about Davis' standing with the police department, but he faces a hearing before Judge Henry Castaneda on Jan. 14. [Full article here]
