[police officer involved domestic violence law enforcement fatality fatalities murder suicide funeral memorial]
The funerals are today. My heart is wondering how many people have their funeral clothes laid out for today for the four deaths above - so many miles apart. How many can't sleep, are crying or still numb. Sons, daughters, mothers, aunts, fathers, stepdaughters, brothers, uncles, grandchildren, cousins, friends, sisters, stepsons - co-workers and friends.

So much is not spoken.
There is no one left to hit for this.
How can anyone can be so swept up into themselves as to kill, steal a life and not care what murder and ending their own life will do to the people inextricably woven into their lives?
We wonder where is the love in that? But hopelessness is a darker tunnel than anyone who isn't trapped in it can comprehend.
Nobody wins.
Another day. The sun will rise as it always does. I'm old enough to confirm that time does heal, but nothing will ever quite be the same.
What life looks like has changed for the young and the weight of it has altered for the old.
God is real. Nestle in close and ride out the storm. Everything is what it is now.
Play light. Love hard. Hug for real. Run and dance while we can.
