A deputy with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office was arrested Sunday for assaulting a woman. According the sheriff's office, Deputy Mitchell Marlow was charged with two counts of assault on a female.  He is being held with no bond. Sheriff Ed McMahon has zero tolerance for this type of behavior and has terminated Marlow from the office. "The facts as presented to me indicated domestic violence along with alcohol consumption," said McMahon in a press release. [LINK]

[Excerpts] A New Hanover County sheriff's deputy accused of beating his wife and daughter Sunday is the second deputy in two weeks to lose his job at the sheriff's office. Deputy Mitchell Marlow is charged with two counts of assault on a female, according to a news release from the sheriff's office... In a news release, [Sheriff Ed] McMahon said Marlow drank alcohol Sunday before the alleged beatings. "We as law enforcement are held to a higher standard," McMahon said, adding that he didn't see a pattern between the DWI and assaults. The sheriff's office encourages deputies and employees to use the office's free counseling if they need it. "The individual has got to want help," McMahon said. "They've got to reach out to us.
