HARTFORD POLICE OFFICER APPLIES FOR FAMILY VIOLENCE PROGRAM AFTER ARREST
The Hartford Courant

[Excerpts] The woman woke up about 2:45 a.m. Saturday when she felt someone pulling off her covers, police said. She saw a gunman standing at her bedside and screamed. She realized the man was her ex-husband, Hartford Officer Christopher G. White, but the realization wasn't comforting: White pointed his department-issued, Smith & Wesson .45-caliber handgun at her and at the man in bed with her... So began about 10 minutes of terror for the couple, both of whom were injured, said Deputy Police Chief Anjo Timmerman. The man with her suffered from an open cut on his left eye that was " bleeding profusely," Timmerman said. There was blood all over the sheets, he said. The woman had a cut on the inside of her upper lip, he said. White was arrested after neighbors heard screaming. He was charged with illegally carrying a firearm while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and with two counts each of first-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree assault, threatening and breach of peace. He posted $75,000 bail through a bondsman. During his arraignment Monday in Superior Court in Enfield, White applied to participate in a family violence education program. Judge Richard Dyer placed full protective orders on the woman, on the man she was with and on her and White's two young children — who were home at the time of the clash. White's next court date is Aug. 26... [Full article here]
JUDGE HEARS HARTFORD OFFICER'S ASSAULT CASE: Officer White on administrative duty
WTNH
02 Aug 2010
[Excerpts] ...Attorneys for 34-year-old [Hartford Police Officer] Christopher White say he was just defending himself, his home, his ex-wife and his children when he confronted a unknown man in his Enfield home. "Again, he did not know whether they were in fact home at the time," stated Attorney Brian Woolf. "When he left the house earlier in the day, they were there with the complainant. But things happened so fast when he got to the house, he doesn't know if they were home or not." It turns out the man in his home had reportedly been invited here by White's former wife. The seven-year Hartford police officer and his ex-wife were living here together, attempting to reconcile after divorcing two years ago... But his attorneys say it’s not as serious as it sounds. White applied for a diversionary program called "the family violence education program" and they expect the charges will eventually be dropped. "When he finally realized what was occurring, he retreated and I think that speaks volumes to Officer White's character and fitness as a police officer," Attorney Kyle Macci said. "And I think the restraint he exercised should be commended"... In the meantime, Officer White will be on administrative duty until the case is resolved. [Full article here]

Hartford Police Officer Denied Counseling Program
ReplyDeleteHartford Courant, Associated Press
August 27, 2010
A Connecticut police officer accused of assaulting his ex-wife and her boyfriend and threatening to kill her in July has been denied entry into a state counseling program that could have resulted in the charges being dismissed.
Enfield Superior Court Judge Richard Dyer rejected Hartford Officer Christopher White's application for the Family Violence Education Program on Thursday, citing the "wide chasm between the accounts of the parties and the police report."
White's lawyer gave a different account of what happened than White's ex-wife. He says his client noticed a torn window screen on the house that night, searched the house for intruders and was assaulted by his ex-wife's guest.
White is free on $75,000 bail and has been placed on administrative duty by Hartford police.

That was not his Ex wife's "boyfriend" he was my boyfriend who was cheating on me and she knew about me as well. Everyone should know the facts. Chris White and myself were deceived and lied to by these two people. The pain and suffering his ex and my (now) ex have caused is unimaginable. They ended up having a child from this affair.
