CHATTANOOGA: POLICE OFFICER CHARGED WITH DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

[Excerpts] A Chattanooga police officer was arrested Tuesday after a woman claimed he pushed her during an argument, police said. Chattanooga police have charged Officer Leroy Wright Jr. with one count of domestic simple assault and relieved him of duty... [The alleged victim] told police that she and Wright got into an argument on Dec. 12, 2010. She said Wright pushed her onto the sofa, held her down, prevented her from using the phone to call police, and slapped her with an open hand... According to Wright, he pushed her onto the sofa after seeing her at a bar with another man. When she called police, she hung up, so Wright said he took the phone... The Chattanooga Police Department Internal Affairs Division is currently conducting an investigation into the allegation... Wright is currently suspended with pay... [Full article here]
