Wyoming Tribune Eagle

[Excerpts] A city police officer faces assault charges stemming from an incident with his wife on Wednesday. The confrontation came after he was placed on administrative leave from the department. Scott T. Kritzmire, 25, was served a warrant Friday for aggravated assault and battery with a weapon, unlawful contact and false imprisonment. Aggravated assault and battery is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Unlawful touching carries a penalty of up to six months in prison and a $750 fine, and false imprisonment is punishable by up to one year in prison and a $1,000 fine... [Police spokesman Sgt. Rob Dafoe] added that Kritzmire was placed on leave with pay on Wednesday. He said he could not release details as it is a personnel matter... According to court documents, Kritzmire allegedly "rushed up" behind his wife, Jamie, pushed her face down onto the kitchen/dining room floor, tightly handcuffed her and kicked her in the thigh. She told authorities he later took her to the bedroom, where he showed her a letter that blamed her for "everything." He then allegedly pulled a black gun and Taser from an off-duty holster, pointed the gun at Jamie and their 8-month-old son and threatened to kill her and himself, documents show. Kritzmire then allegedly drove Jamie and their son to his father-in-law's house to drop off the child. Once the couple returned home, Jamie said Kritzmire asked her for a "farewell hug." She then tried, unsuccessfully, to close the garage door. She said Kritzmire then took out the gun and pointed it at his chest, but he re-holstered it and told her not to say anything about the incident. Three Laramie County Sheriff's deputies responded to the residence... They then followed him to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center... When Kritzmire was contacted by deputies at the hospital, he allegedly admitted to handcuffing Jamie "to keep her from flailing" and said he "may have" pointed his gun at her... In a prepared statement, Cheyenne Police Chief Brian Kozak expressed his support for the victim, investigators and members of the police department who reported the incident... [Full article here]

...Here is an idea everyone needs to stay out of other people lives and worry about your dam self... Miss Jamie isnt that innocent like every one thinks she is either...

...Really? Stay quiet?... this story has made news across the country (Google Scott Kritzmire and you'll see). I think this is past the point of inaction and "sweeping it under the rug" don't ya think?...

...How evil do you have to be to blame someone after this horrific incident happened... JAMIE should not be the one getting ripped apart for something she had no control over! She didn't force the gun or taser out on her or their child...

...THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT KNOW WHAT REALLY WENT ON IS JAMIE AND SCOTT AND IT NEEDS TO STAY THAT WAY...

...this young lady and her infant will have a huge financial burden on them. We found out that there is a fund at Wells Fargo bank that has been started for Jamie Kritzmire. If anyone is interested in helping her and her son out that would be great. I myself have donated to this fund. I hope the community will help this terrible situation...

...Its unexcusable what this officer, husband did. He needs serious consquences, and help...

...Scott was on admin leave for something other than this incident. He was on leave from something that happened earlier that day. Not this...

...I have been friends with scott for 10+ years we went to school together We worked for his uncle. I have always known Scott to be the laid back type of guy. He never got into trouble all he ever wanted to be was a cop. I dont know what made him do that. but Jamie im sorry that you went through what you did that should have never happened to anyone.. To Scott's Family i hope everything works out for the best. I wish there was something i could do...

...The CPD suspended him before the other investigations took place. Other Officers turned him in. Only after all this took place did he do the assault. For those calling for the Police Chief to do something about it it, HE HAS. It's all up to the DA's office now. The Chief can do no more, so get off his back. Unless Kritzmire somehow is cleared of all wrongdoing, which isn't going to happen, he is done being a cop period...

...for those of you who do not know this family need to keep your mouths shut!!These 2 are very dear friends of mine... Jamie and thomas youre in my prayers im so glad your safe xoxo...

  2. Excerpts from comments on internet:

...No woman or person ever deserves to be treated this way and if what is stated is what happened then I hope Scott is prosecuted and I hope Jaime can get on with her life...

...Make sure that this assault charge is labeled domestic violence so this guy never legally touches another firearm, nor ever wears a badge. No plea bargain or first offender for this cat! Take a stand Chief!...

...I know first hand exactly what living with a person with this kind of behavior is life. The threats of suicide are a weak demand to try to get something from someone else just as is the physical abuse...

...A healthy strong and sane husband would never act or react the way he did to his wife no matter what the circumstances, and the fact that he exposed this arrogant self centered and disgusting behavior in front of their child is nothing to be defending....

...this guy should be in jail not at home getting paid this is wrong this sends a bad message to others. The sheriff should go and lock him up its the LAW...

...A cop with mental anquish & instability , should NO WAY, have a gun. These power hungry insecure types, need to work on themselves, before they are allowed to work in this field. Lots of people have relationship/marriage problems and never draw a gun or threaten suicide. I say, go ahead and kill yourself, but leave innocent people alone...

...Please do not judge him. He loves his son dearly. Please stop posting hurting comments... Pray for everyone involved. There are more than 3 victims here...

...I know his wife, and she is a sweet, committed wife. The fact that he could do this to her is terrible! No matter what the circumstances were in their marriage, nobody deserves to be abused and tortured, and told that they are going to die... Stay strong girl, take care of that beautiful baby, you did the right thing!...

...screw anyone who tries to blame jamie. she is a wonderful person and incredible mother and imagine your husband pointing a gun at you and your 8 month old child. i am praying for the whole family and god bless you jamie i am so happy you and thomas are safe. have faith, everybody loves you and things will get better. love you all...

...The reason she didn't stay at her dads is because she was staying calm for her son. Every think that he threatened to shoot her right on the spot if she said anything. Lord please help the people on here who are saying that the wife deserves it...

...Everyone needs to stop making assumptions and pray for Scott, Jaime, and baby Thomas...

...i know his wife and she is a very well respected lady. he needs to pay for his actions. for all his family and friends - wake up and help this guy. he needs all the help in the world...

  3. Excerpts from comments on internet:

...no wife should every get handcuffed with a gun pointed at their face against their will. This has nothing to do with any of the other officers...

...I know both of them on a personal level and you all should think long and hard before you decide that YOU have the right to judge others and their situations...

...why is it that only when a police officer does something wrong it gets put in the paper...

...Family issues are no reason to put her in handcuffs, put a gun in front of her and her innocent baby, kick her, and do whatever else he did. Not to mention threatening suicide, that is a pathetic and weak attempt to get what he wanted from her. And why would the city of cheyenne continue paying this mans salary while he is locked up where he SHOULD be? I hope that money goes straight to his mistreated and abused wife and child. In my opinion that man deserves nothing but a very long jail sentence to protect his family...

...I personally know of other cops who have been abusive to there wives over the years and have never seen one arrested...

...Why is he on PAID leave? The circumstances stated here indicate a dangerous and suicidal person. He needs to be in a hospital or jail where they can keep an eye on him. AND HE SHOULDN'T BE GETTING PAID FOR IT!...

...Just goes to prove that even cops are human. This is a sad day for Cheyenne's public, and an even sadder day for all the family members involved...

...This fellow is my neighbor and I have found him to be less than warm and with a somewhat suspicious and untrustworthy nature...

...I know this police officer, and I don't believe that he would ever point a gun at his wife, let alone his own so...

...Kritzmire will never be a police officer again, here or anywhere else. Do you really think the CPD will put him back on the street?...

...This is scary. I am so glad it didn't end in tragedy...

...I pray that this man gets the help he needs and, more importantly, is NEVER again allowed to wear a badge and firearm in public. He has proven he's a lit cannon just waiting to go off. The LAST thing the public needs is a man like this in an armed position of authority...
