A St. Lucie County Sheriff's corrections deputy is recovering in a Melbourne hospital this morning after she was stabbed by her husband Sunday in their Sebastian home, according to a spokesman for the Sebastian Police Department. Sheila Grandison, 39, who works as a deputy at the St. Lucie County Jail, is in stable condition at Holmes Regional Medical Center... Police believe she was stabbed by her husband, Roderick Grandison, who was arrested and faces an attempted homicide charge... A Sebastian detective is scheduled to interview Sheila Grandison at the hospital today... The couple's 12 and 14-year-old boys are staying with grandparents... [Full article here]

Witnesses to Sunday's stabbing of an off-duty St. Lucie County Jail deputy told police the assault took place in the driveway of her home... her husband, Roderick A. Grandison, 47, stabbed her several times following an argument about their pending separation... He was charged with second-degree attempted murder and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail at the Indian River County Jail. The two sons of the couple said their mother was outside washing her car at 10:30 a.m. when the attack happened... They tried to defend their mother, they told police. A neighbor of the Grandisons said he was inside his home in the 100 block of Aldea Drive when he heard shouting outside, according to the report. He looked outside and saw the couple and their two sons fighting, he told police. He saw Roderick Grandison make two stabs with a knife into his wife's back, the report said. When Roderick Grandison spotted the neighbor, he ran back into his home, the report said. The neighbor brought the woman into his home and called 911. [Full article here]

A St. Lucie County sheriff's corrections deputy was recovering in a Melbourne hospital Monday after her husband allegedly stabbed her Sunday in their Sebastian home, according to Sebastian police. Sheila Grandison, 39, who is a deputy at the St. Lucie County jail, was in serious but stable condition at Holmes Regional Medical Center Monday afternoon, according to sheriff's officials. Sebastian police responded to her house at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday after neighbors saw Grandison and her husband, Roderick, arguing and physically fighting in their front yard... The neighbor yelled for Roderick Grandison to stop, "at which time he said that Roderick stood up and made a thrusting motion with his hand toward the victim's back, then ran into the house," Marcinik wrote in a statement... The situation escalated when the couple began arguing over a possible separation, Marcinik said... The couple's eldest child told officers he heard his mother screaming, "Help me," then saw his father on top of his mother, stabbing her in the neck and back with a kitchen knife...
