A five-year veteran of the Elkhart Police Department has been arrested for felony domestic battery and interference with reporting a crime. Police were called to a home on Elkhart’s north side about 9:20 a.m. Wednesday. There a woman told the officers she wanted to file battery charges against her fiancé, 40-year-old Christopher Paciorkowski, for pushing her. Because Paciorkowski is an Elkhart police officer, officers requested the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department handle the complaint. The Sheriff’s Department determined there was enough probable cause to arrest Paciorkowski for felony domestic battery and interference with reporting a crime. He was booked into the Elkhart County Jail. Paciorkowski was placed on administrative leave according to the Elkhart Police Department.

ELKHART — An Elkhart police officer accused of domestic battery is being placed on administrative leave without pay.

Christopher Paciorkowski was arrested on June 25 for felony domestic battery after his fiancée told police he pushed her. Paciorkowski is also accused of interfering with reporting a crime.

The Elkhart Safety Board decided Tuesday morning to stop paying Paciorkowski until the case against him is resolved.

If convicted, Packorkowski would not be able to carry a firearm so he could not be a police officer. Paciorkowski is a five-year veteran of the department.

It's about time we got some justice on Christopher! First he is texting women during his shift hours & no body does anything about it. Now when one of his girlfriends finally comes forward about being pushed, now the justice system decides to do something about it. It always has to lead to violence before the justice system does any thing about it. That's WRONG! & needs to be fixed!

  3. Gimme a break jessica. My best friends a state officer, they text. Big deal. guess you've never pushed anyone? I know Chris, and he's a hellava guy and sweet as can be. Women can provoke and push buttons. He plead guilty to a class A misdemeanor. Shame he resigned, he was a good officer and hes a good man.

  4. Exactly how much dv is a good officer allowed before he's not a very good officer?

He resigned for a reason. It wasn't on a whim.

  6. Jessica some people don't think before they speak.

It amazes me. They know someone from work and then think they know everything.
