  1. CHRISTMAS DAY ARREST
    wcbcradio

Just after 8 PM Christmas Eve Cumberland City Police responded to the 400 Blk of Louisiana Ave. for a report of a Breaking and Entering complaint. Once on the scene officers contacted the female victim who advised her estranged husband had broken into her residence and stole some of her personal property. Officers identified the suspect as Robert Matthew Breeding. Witnesses in the area advised officers that Breeding had fled into the woods on foot prior to their arrival. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate Breeding. An application of charges was filed and an arrest warrant was issued for Breeding. At approx. 12:05 AM on December 25 while in the area of Fort Hill Ave. a Cumberland Police K-9 unit observed Breeding walking near Byrd Ave. towards Louisiana Ave. The officer approached Breeding and advised him he was under arrest. Breeding refused to stop and was again advised he was under arrest and to stop and lay on the ground. Breeding refused and began to run from the officer. At this time Police K-9 "Jack" was deployed, but was called off when Breeding stopped running. Breeding still refused to comply with the officers commands to get on the ground and place his hands behind his back. Other Officers arrived on the scene and attempted to place Breeding in handcuffs at which time Breeding pulled from officers and began to resist. During this time Breeding attempted to pull an unknown object from his pants pocket. For officers safety a Taser was deployed and Breeding was taken to the ground and handcuffed. Breeding was then transported to Police Headquarters and charged.

  2. CITY POLICE USE TASER TO SUBDUE BURGLARY SUSPECT
Oldtown man reportedly tried to scuffle with officers
    The Cumberland Times-News
    December 26, 2008

CUMBERLAND - It took the threat of a police dog and finally a Taser to subdue an Oldtown Man accused of breaking into the home of his estranged wife on Louisiana Avenue on Christmas Eve. Cumberland police responded to the scene about 8 p.m. and discovered that Robert Matthew Breeding, 49, had run. At 12:05 a.m. on Christmas Day, a patrolling officer sighted Breeding walking near Byrd Avenue. After being informed he was being placed under arrest, Breeding once more began to run. Police K-9 Jack was deployed, but called off when Breeding stopped. However, Breeding still refused to comply with orders. By then backup officers had arrived, but Breeding continued to scuffle while being handcuffed and was shot with a Taser. Breeding is being held at the Allegany County Detention Center on a bond of $405,000. He is charged with burglary, trespassing, theft and resisting arrest.

I'd like to apologize for having approved that (though I can't imagine that I did) and I have removed it.
