CHP OFFICER PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO KILLING HUSBAND
Los Angeles Times
January 13, 2011
[Excerpts] A California Highway Patrol officer pleaded not guilty Thursday to killing her husband on an offramp of the 91 Freeway nearly two years ago as they drove home from a Compton restaurant. Tomiekia Johnson, 31, contended in the aftermath of the shooting that she fired the gun, which she had gotten from a relative, in self-defense against her husband, Marcus Lemons. But after a lengthy investigation, Johnson was arrested Tuesday by homicide detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department at a CHP office in Los Angeles, where she had been assigned since the slaying... The sources, who spoke on the condition that they not be named because the case was ongoing, said Johnson later told detectives Lemons had physically abused her in the car. The sources said detectives contend that forensic information gathered at the scene contradicts some parts of her account. After the shooting, Johnson drove the car to her parents' home, where they called authorities... [Full article here]

[Excerpts] A California Highway Patrol officer who told investigators two years ago that she shot her husband because he had verbally and physically abused her was charged Tuesday with murder.... According to prosecutors, Johnson was off-duty when she shot her husband near a Riverside (91) Freeway offramp, then drove to her parents' Compton home with Lemons' body in the front passenger seat... Sheriff's deputies found Lemons in the front seat of the car with a gunshot wound to the head, prosecutors said. Johnson was being held in lieu of $2 million bail... Shortly after the shooting, Lemons' former fiancee told KCAL9 that Lemons had never been abusive toward her. "We were together for years, and he's never touched me in any way; so for them to portray him as this monster is unbelievable,'' Darian Milow told Channel 9. A friend seconded that opinion. "He would never hurt anybody. Nobody. Nobody. It's not him. It's not,'' Crystal Barhee told the station. [Full article here]

  1. I hope this is the families site...but you might need information regarding other officers that were ordered to take anger managment through chp and did not follow through, look up officer Garrett Smith in West Valley, ventura county court and file #SD038517. He stated in mediation he has taken "anger managment" no follow up was done, also has a restraining order that is not being properly enforced.
    (I hope that this helps)
