[Excerpts] The wife of Fort Lauderdale Police Chief Frank Adderley is expected to change her plea to charges connected with shooting at her husband with his own service weapon last year. Eleanor Adderley, 45, appeared in court Thursday and her attorneys announced she would no longer be pleading not guilty to charges of shooting into an occupied dwelling, a second-degree felony, and third-degree aggravated assault... On July 8, Eleanor Adderley took several shots at her husband while he was in bed at the couple's home in Plantation, police said. The shooting happened less than two months after Adderley discovered her husband of 17 years had had an affair that ended in 2007.... Eleanor Adderley allegedly fired several shots that night with her husband's service weapon, a 9mm Beretta, and eventually chased her husband to a neighbor's home. Some people in Broward's legal community complained that Adderley , as the police chief 's wife, had gotten preferential treatment in the judicial system and questioned why she wasn't charged with attempted murder... The next court date is scheduled for Feb. 6.
