[Excerpts] Internal affairs investigations of three Palm Beach County sheriff's deputies for alleged misconduct in their personal relationships resulted in one termination, one resignation and one suspension... The Highlands County Sheriff's Office arrested Twigg in November 2007 on burglary and theft charges. He was charged with breaking into his former girlfriend's home and stealing her pit bull, Babies. He gave the dog as a gift to the woman a year earlier. Twigg admitted to Highlands County deputies that he conspired to falsify documents to make it look like he was the dog's owner and picked it up at animal control, investigators said. He said he found the dog outside the woman's home and that he did not break in and steal it. He later said he was coerced by Highlands County deputies to give that statement. Twigg was found to have violated the Sheriff's Office rules and regulations: commission of a felony and a misdemeanor, and untruthfulness. The criminal case is still pending against him. John Kazanjian, president of the Palm Beach County Police Benevolent Association, said Twigg was fired because there were prior investigations where Twigg was warned about domestic incidents.
