[Excerpts] The police chief of this Clermont County village claims he was manhandled and his young children were traumatized when guns were pointed at them during a search of his house by other law enforcement officials. A federal lawsuit was filed this afternoon on behalf of Police Chief David Willoughby, who has been on paid leave while the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation looks into allegations that he stalked someone... Willoughby has insisted he is innocent, said attorney Eric Deters, who filed the suit on behalf of the police chief in U.S. District Court in Cincinnati. “This menacing, stalking (allegation), I don’t know if it’s an ex-wife, ex-girlfriend that’s wanting to bother him, but he says he has no clue,” Deters said. “We just think they could be acting on a very bad and wrong anonymous tip.” No criminal charges have been filed against the police chief, said Daniel “Woody” Breyer, the county’s chief deputy prosecutor. An investigation of the chief was launched in August by Karen Rebori of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation, an arm of the state attorney general’s office, according to the suit. Willoughby was suspended from his job on Sept. 22... Willoughby’s constitutional rights were violated when he was held against his will, and he suffered personal injury and intentional infliction of emotional distress, the suit claimed. ...According to a search warrant executed by the Ohio Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Willoughby is accused of menacing by stalking and voyeurism. Willoughby told News 5 Thursday that he is innocent and doesn’t know who filed the complaint or why. “I’m completely in the dark as much as anybody else,” he said. During the search of Willoughby’s home, investigators seized computers, cameras and videotapes. Willoughby also said investigators pointed guns at his two children, ages 7 and 12. Willoughby said he plans to file a lawsuit Friday alleging excessive force against the investigators who searched his home. He is seeking damages for injuries he said he suffered while handcuffed in his living room... "Nobody's perfect. Everybody speeds. Everybody gets pulled over for not using a turn signal. I'm no exception. I'm not perfect. But I've never broken the law to the point where I'm going to get arrested or I'm going to get criminally charged," he said. [Full article here]
David Willoughby was a good police chief I don't care what anyone says,I think he got a raw deal,I think someone had it in for him.

ReplyDeletewell its all over now. Seemed a little like a head hunt to me. I think he made a mistake by going to the media. BCI probably felt like they had to stick him with something when the media got involved.
